Introduction
The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known,
the solution identified below can be used.

Problem
The four lower bolts holding the sleeve to the saddle block may break on certain HydraCrowd equipped 7495 and
7495HF Electric Rope Shovels. Failures of the bolts in this location have been reported after the implementation of
the bolted joint recommendations in SMAG, BI646645, “New Bolted Joint for HydraCrowd Sleeve”. Refer to Illustration
1 for bolt location.

Potential Shear Ledge Interference

There is also potential for there to be interference between the shear ledge on the sleeve and the saddle block which
could create a gap between the mounting flanges on the saddle block and sleeve and may contribute to bolt failures.

If the sleeve is bolted to the saddle block use a feeler gauge to check for any gap between the mounting faces on the
saddle block and sleeve. Measurements should be taken at a minimum of four positions 90 degrees apart around the
circumference of the mounting surfaces (Illustration 4).

In the event there is a gap or the sleeve has been removed, measure the saddle block and sleeve dimensions shown
in Illustration 5. If the sleeve dimension is larger than the saddle block dimension, the shear ledge face on the sleeve
should be machined. For machining, the max dimension should be 0.495 inches and the minimum dimension should
be 0.470 inches per Illustration 6.
