ABOUT BLENDED LEARNING
Blended learning
Blended learning with Arden University
brings you the best of both worlds: a
flexible mix of face-to-face teaching at one
of our study centres in the UK or Berlin,
Germany, combined with independent
online learning that you can take part
in whenever and wherever works best
with your existing commitments.
When you study via blended learning,
you’ll study two modules at a time over 10-
week study periods. Each week of study
will require a minimum of 33.5 hours
of participation, which comprises:
• 8 hours of timetabled face-to-face
teaching each week based in one
of our study centres
• A minimum 25.5 hours of
independent online learning

Level 4
Business Research Methods & Analysis (20 credits)
This module explores the business analytical skills required
to carry out practical research. You will acquire the know-
how to formulate original research questions, select the most
suitable data collection methodology, and accurately analyse
data and interpret the results. Through this, you will learn how
to write a feasible project proposal as well as the capabilities
to undertake a major piece of independent research:

Business Consulting (20 credits)
In this module you will gain comprehensive knowledge and
understanding of the nature of business consultancy, the
consulting process in theory and practice, and key strategies
for enabling and facilitating change within organisations. The
module content is illustrated and applied to real world business
problems, providing you with transferable skills for business
consulting, internal consultancy, and senior management roles.

Global Business Environment (20 credits)
Drawing upon a range of diverse business disciplines, this module
explores the contemporary global business environment. It
will delve into the distinct parameters within which UK and
international business sectors operate, as well as the contribution
of organisational structure to business operations in local, regional,
and national economies. You will gain insights on topics such as
economics, consumer trends, geo-politics, HRM, marketing, and
finance.

Governance and Financial Control (20 credits)
In this module you will evaluate and establish appropriate
project governance through the incorporation of pertinent
policies, regulations, processes, roles, and structure in a
range of project types and organisational structures. You
will acquire valuable knowledge of project management
relating to budgeting and costs within relevant financial
frameworks, as well as tailoring project performance reports
to comply with set governance norms in the business.

Introduction to Project Management (20 credits)

Examining the fundamentals of project management, this

module will allow you to explore the principles and themes of
building a successful project from planning to implementation. It
will give an overview of the entire project lifecycle, including aims
and objectives, budgeting and timescale, team development,
resources, and scope. From this you will gain clear insight into
project management and completion, including the fundamental
business skills and behaviours associated with project success.

Level 5
Advanced Project Management (20 credits)
Building on the introduction to project management, this module
goes on to present the key principles and themes of managing
successful projects. Its focus includes project governance and
variables, as well as the behavioural skills associated with effective
project management. The module will explore communication
strategies for building and maintaining relationships with internal
and external stakeholders and the link between proactive project
communication and a successful project outcome.

Procurement and Contract Management (20 credits)
This module will examine the process of procuring goods and
services in a cost effective and process driven manner. The
module will explore project management within commercial and
contractual policies, practices, and relationships. You will gain
knowledge of procurement cycle management, opportunities
for maximising benefits through the effective establishment
and management of contracts, and the importance of supply
chain management within the project environment.

Project Justification (20 credits)
The project justification module outlines how to construct robust
project proposals that give a clear overview of project benefits
and now they relate to broader business objectives. You will learn
to evaluate organisational aims to develop and execute strategic
projects that add value, identify realistic benefits, propose tangible
deliverables, and ensure the ongoing viability and relevance of the
project.

Project Risk Management (20 credits)
Risk evaluation and management is an essential component
of project success. This module will cover the theoretical and
practical skills for identifying, analysing, planning, and managing
project-related risks in terms of scope, schedule, quality, and cost
performance. Through this, you will gain insight into effective risk
management strategies, equipping you with the tools to manage
risk and change constructively to your team and stakeholders.

Projects and Strategic Context (20 credits)

The aim of this module is to emphasise the current need

for project management approaches and strategies to
lie in accordance with project type and organisational
context. It explores how the internal and external context
and structure of an organisation can be used to determine
the most fitting project type, and how this knowledge
can inform the development of strategic plans to meet an
organisation’s short, medium, and long-term goals.

Level 6
Project Change and Control (20 credits)
This module will provide you with an understanding of change
management models, including practical experience with
planning and implementing change. You will also learn the
appropriate tools and processes for monitoring and controlling
a project in terms of scope, timeline, quality, and cost. Through
this, you will develop the skills required to manage projects within
a range of diverse frameworks, as well as how to lead a team
through organisational change.

Quality Management (20 credits)
The quality management module will explore the principles
of quality management and how they can be translated
into actions that support project management success.
You will gain knowledge of traditional and agile quality
management frameworks, measuring performance indicators,
and integrating high quality project deliverables. Through
this, you will learn how quality assurance and control are
essential to improving project management processes.

AI and Big Data Analytics in Project Management (20 credits)
Today’s business world calls for project managers with a
knowledge of big data analysis and modeling. In this module you
will broaden your expertise of how Artificial Intelligence (AI) and
big data analytics can leverage project management processes
and aid in decision making. In a world reliant on data to improve
processes and monitor success, this module will help you gain
transferable skills in AI to benefit your workplace.

Developing People and Capabilities (20 credits)
Understanding people and behaviours is pivotal in the
successful management, engagement, and facilitation of
projects. This module will explore contemporary theories,
practices, and skills relating to organizational behaviour and
human resource management in order to contribute to
successful business operations across a range of business
contexts and digital advancements. You will examine the
challenges raised by temporary organisational structures to
innovate and perform within traditional and agile settings.

Final Project (20 credits)

In the final project module, you will be given the opportunity

to conduct a large-scale piece of research using the
knowledge gained from your degree programme. Here
you will investigate a business problem identified by a real
organisation using real datasets, giving you transferable
business research skills with real-world applications. For
this module, you will have the chance to work on either a
predetermined problem or present your own original idea.

Dr. Serkan Ceylan

Head of School - Project Management

Dr. Serkan Ceylan joined Arden University in 2021 as

Head of School of Project Management. Alongside
his extensive industry experience, Serkan has an
impressive research grant history, securing over
£1,000,000 to date. He also has visiting academic
positions across Europe and has undertaken
external examiner duties for universities in the UK.

Serkan will be responsible for restructuring

our portfolio of project management courses,
and raising Arden University’s profile within
the industry through the development of
close industry ties and future partnerships.
