Moore's law is the observation in 1965 that, over the history of computing
hardware, the number of transistors on integrated circuits doubles
approximately every 2 years.
Because of this exponential growth over the last 48 years, this doubling has
lead to 24 doublings of the orginal number of transitors that could be placed on
a circuit board
