    This report summarizes laboratory results from samples collected in Venezuela and tested for infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV). PCR and RFLP testing found that 5 out of 8 bursa samples were positive for IBDV but did not match the classic strain W2512. Sequence analysis of one sample showed it was a variant IBDV strain. The costs for the various tests totaled 402 euros. Phylogenetic analysis of the IBDV sequence placed it within a cluster of other variant IBDV strains previously found in Venezuela.
