Vision
With solid cooperation from valued customers, the company's objective is to cover a larger
territory in the country and in the export market. We hope to meet our deadline as soon as
possible. The company is adamant about offering all food products at a fair price without
sacrificing quality or service.
Mission
When we think of pectin, we think of apples or citrus fruits. Zitroine Pectins is a world leader
in making sunflower pectin more flexible and adaptable to any form of pectin. In India, the
firm is a pioneer in the production of citrus and sunflower pectins.
Product Introduction
• What is pectin?
Pectin is the sodium, potassium, calcium, and ammonium salts of partial methyl esters of
polygalacturonic acid produced by extraction in an aqueous medium of acceptable edible
plant material, generally citrus fruits, apple, and sunflower. A part of the methyl esters in
some pectins may have been transformed to primary amides by ammonia treatment. Sugars
are commonly used to dilute commercial products for the purpose of standardisation. The pH
value, gel strength, viscosity, degree of esterification, and setting properties are all stated.
Pectin is increasingly used in food, drinks, pharmaceuticals, and personal care items, as well
as in industrial applications. Jams, jellies, and spreads; bakery & confectionery; drinks; dairy
goods; and other applications such as meat & poultry products, sauces & dressings, infant
food, and prepared foods are all examples of where pectins are employed.
Product Description
Design
Most pectin manufacturers offer it in a gel form, but our business, Zitrone Pectin, developed
it in a powder form, which has proven to be a game changer in the sector. Many producers
are converting to powder base since it offers numerous advantages in terms of transportation
and storage, as well as better outcomes than gel foundation. Gel-based pectin is prone to
spillage, drying, and storage chaos; powder-based pectin, on the other hand, is easier to ship
and can be stored in large quantities in the same space as gel-based pectin.
Packaging
When it comes to packing, our primary focus is on B2B clients. For industrial application and
production, we offer 50 kg and 20 kg bags of pectin powder. In the cooking and baking
industries, the same packaging is useful. We recently decided to launch tiny pouches of 50
grammes, 100 grammes, and 200 grammes for retail sales, which may be used in household
cooking and baking, thereby addressing B2C clientele as well.
EXTRACTION OF PECTIN
Manufacturing & Selling
Production
So, first, we have to put crushed orange peels and solvent into the
machine. After that essential soil is separated from the mixture, the peels
which now lack the oils, are mixed with citric acid solution and then
heated for 30 minutes, and then filtered with the addition of ethanol and
hence pectin is ready to be packed and shipped.
After Russia, Canada, the United States of America, and China, according
to the CIA World Fact Book, Brazil is the world's fifth-biggest country in
terms of geographical area (Central Road Warrior, Country Snapshot). It
is organized into five geographic areas, each of which is further
subdivided into 26 states and the Federal District.
South America's most populous country is Brazil (8.515.759 km2.
Sao Paulo is Brazil's commercial and industrial hub and the country's
largest industrial metropolis.
Rio de Janeiro is best known as a global business hub.
Land Size: Brazil has the greatest population in South America, both
geographically and demographically, allowing us to target a wide client base.
Market Use: Pectin is included in 80% of all jams and fruit spreads sold in
Brazil that claim to be "natural" or "free of chemicals and preservatives."
People are more aware of the advantages of pectin powder than other
competing additives, which is assisting producers in growing their businesses.
Local law compliance
Pectin is classified as a GRAS (generally recognised as safe) food substance by the FDA.
Pectin can now be used without limitation as a result of this designation. The environment
should not be harmed in the production process. The Industrial Policy Act of 1991 should be
observed in all policies and directives.
The following are some key aspects of the New Industrial Policy that have been discussed:
Indian enterprises were operating under a strict authorization framework prior to the
introduction of the New Industrial Policy. The majority of firms have now been freed from
permits and other restrictions.
In the New Industrial Policy, the use of the most recent innovation has been given
unambiguous quality. As a result, unusual inventive collaboration has been permitted.
A method has been adopted to avoid extending unbeneficial modern units into the public
realm. Aside from that, the government is implementing a disinvestment strategy in such
open-space projects. (Disinvestment is the sale of a portion of a public-sector venture to
private-sector investors.) This is a privatisation strategy.)
The Act on Monopolies and Restrictive Trade Practices has been repealed. Companies no
longer need to obtain government approval to issue shares, expand their operating region, or
establish a new entity.
TARGET CONSUMER
Pectin from China and Brazil is used by Indian food producers since it costs roughly $10 per
kilogram, but pectin from Germany, the Czech Republic, and Denmark is more expensive.
Pectin prices fluctuate a lot since most imports pass through middlemen, who typically sell
pectin for $6-$13 per kilogram. Second-rate pectin can be found for as little as $0.5-$2/kg,
depending on the type and brand.
Various uses of pectin in the pharmaceutical, corrective, and food and beverage industries
have aided in the growth of the market studied. Pectin has traditionally been used in jams as a
jellying agent. Pectin's most common uses are jams and jellies. Nonetheless, as technology
advances, market participants have begun to develop pectin that is suitable for a variety of
uses.
In India, we've targeted several industries that make jams and jellies. In 2019, revenue from
jams, jellies, purées, and marmalades totals US$286 million. Every year, the market is
expected to grow by 5.2 percent (CAGR 2019-2023). Furthermore, the increase in demand
for jams and spreads might be attributed to changing breakfast designs, rising interest in
bundled food, and the country's growing working class.
Competitors
By 2021, the global pectin market would have grown to 95,000 tonnes, with India accounting
for roughly 8000 tonnes. We will strive to gain 2% market share first, keeping in mind
competition from global competitors and domestic suppliers.
There are just 5-6 competitors for pectin in India. They are as follows:
• Gujarat General Food Chem Pvt. Ltd. is a company based in Gujarat, India.
