Subject: Application for the position Technician Research and Development

Dear Ms. Singh,

When I saw the vacancy “Weekendhulp Laboratory Technician” on the Viroclinics website, I was
immediately enthusiastic. It seems to me to be exactly the position and work environment that I am
currently looking for as a student. In this letter I will explain my background and motivation.

During my Biology & Medical Laboratory Research studies, I focused on Life Science Research where I
followed a minor in Laboratory Animal Science. In addition to the experience and knowledge that I
gained at school during classes and in the lab, I also have internship experience. For example, during my
graduation internship at the department of Cell Biology of the Erasmus Medical Center, I did an
internship under the supervision of Dr. K. S. Wendt. Here I gained experience in, among other things,
performing cloning experiments, DNA isolations, cell culture, Western Blotting and working with
fluorescence microscopy. After graduation I continued with the master Biomedical Sciences. Currently I
am in the second year and I am following the specialization Infectious diseases. The year before I
finished the specialization Immunology.

What really attracts me about this job is the flexibility it gives me to pursue my studies and at the same
time offers me the opportunity for a side job that is in my own personal area of interest. Given the
interests and activities that are carried out at this laboratory, a job here seems to me to be extremely
suitable to apply my skills and knowledge. As a person I am analytical and I work results-oriented. I like
to work in a passionate team, but I can also carry out my work independently. I work very accurately and
thus ensure the delivery of high-quality results. I also master the Dutch and English language in both
word and writing. I carried out my previous internship assignment with great enthusiasm. I would
therefore like to apply my acquired knowledge and experience at Viroclinics. For a complete overview of

I would like to put my knowledge and skills into practice as a laboratory technician. I therefore hope that
