Grammar time: Let’s


I. Objectives: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
1. Knowledge: Use “Let’s + V” as a way of suggesting to somebody that you do something
together.; Explain how to form the present simple of the verb in English.
2. Skill: Use the present simple with “Let’s” in written and spoken language.
3. Attitude: Enjoy and pay attention to the grammar lesson.
II. Method and teaching aids:
1. Methods: PPP, TPR, The Natural Approach
2. Teaching aids: PowerPoint, TV, handouts
III. Teaching material:
1. Teacher: textbook, board, chalk, flashcards, TPR games
2. Students: textbook, pen, pencil, white board, markers
IV. Procedure
1. Class organization: check attendance (1 min)
2. New lesson: (87 mins)

-T shows a story on YouTube. I. Warm-up (7 mins)


-T asks Ss to watch it together. Watch a video:
-T asks Ss to guess the topic of the lesson.
-Ss guess and answer.
-T leads to the new lesson.

II. Presentation (20 mins)


Introduce the grammar:  Introduction:
-T says some sentences using “Let’s….”
-T writes these sentences on the slide/board
(verbatim, even if they contain mistakes).
-T invites some Ss to read the examples and find
out the structure.
Teach the grammar:

-T lets Ss know that we use let’s as a way of


suggesting to somebody that you do something
together.
-T introduces the grammar from the example
sentences.
-T asks questions that focus on the form of “Let’s
….”
-T also asks questions that focus on the meaning  Grammar:
of the grammar.
-T checks comprehension.
-T drills the class with the examples until
he’s/she’s satisfied that Ss can do it reasonably
well.

III. Practice (40 mins)


 Mechanical practice 1: Match
-T shows the exercise on the slide/board
- T asks St to read the sentences carefully then
match them to the pictures.
-T invites some Ss to choose the best answer
-T asks Ss to say aloud the number that they hear
- T shows the answer and checks Ss’s answer.

 Mechanical practice 2: Look and


write.

-T shows the text on the slide/board and calls Ss


to look at the picture and make the whole
sentences.
-Ss look, read and write
-T asks Ss to say aloud the text with the answers,

 Mechanical practice 3: Speaking:


Make suggestions

-T shows the text on the slide.


-T explains the speaking activity.
- Ss work in pairs.
-T asks Ss to perform their speaking.
-T corrects Ss’s answers.

Production (20 mins)

-T sends the link and invites Ss to join the game.
