DOXA YOUTH MUN

Principal’s Address
“When the power of love overcomes the love for power, only then will the world know
peace.” - Jimi Hendrix
Greetings!
It gives me immense pleasure to inform you that St. Mark's Senior Secondary Public
School, Janakpuri is organising the second edition of DOXA YOUTH MUN, the Inter-
School Model United Nations.
The perpetually evolving and dynamic world that we are living in, demands the youth of
the nation to unite and acquaint themselves with the world affairs, and acquire the skill
to represent the country on a ‘global’ level. Hence, it becomes our responsibility to
provide a platform to the young torchbearers to voice their opinions confidently and
thus, help them become the best possible version of themselves.
We, through DOXA YOUTH MUN, aspire to develop varied set of skills in students
ranging from leadership, research writing, public speaking, and problem-solving.
Moreover, coming up with solutions that are acceptable to a majority of the
representatives also inculcates skills of negotiation, conflict resolution, and cooperation.
We strongly cultivate the belief that every institution should work towards creating
'global citizens' and for that, MUN, is no less than a fortuity unmatched.
We look forward to witnessing a high quality and thought-provoking discussion by the
participants in this forthcoming event.

Best Wishes

FROM THE DESK OF SECRETARIAT

Dear Distinguished Delegates,

It is our privilege to welcome you all to the second online edition of DOXA YOUTH
MUN 2022. Nelson Mandela once said: “We can change the world and make it a better
place. It is in your hands to make a difference”. As a young generation, today we have
the chance to change the world, change it into a fair, lively, and graceful world bringing
prosperity and security to each individual. Hence, it is of paramount importance to let
our young learners voice their opinions confidently and thus, help them become the best
possible version of themselves.
The time has come for India to become "Vishwa Guru" once again and emerge as the
hub of knowledge and innovation, in order to make this happen, the youth must realize
their constitutional duties rather than just thinking about the rights given to them. The
duties prescribed, embody some of the highest ideals preached by our great saints,
philosophers, social reformers and political leaders.

This conference aims at making the youth realize their duties towards the nation and
acquainting them with issues at National and International level. We believe that it is the
fundamental duty of every institution to develop youth leadership and imbibe a positive
attitude in the students and for that, DOXA YOUTH MUN, is no less than a fortuity
unmatched.
Looking forward to your participation.

The United Nations Charter established six main organs of the United Nations, including
Security Council. The Security Council takes the lead in determining the existence of a
threat to the peace or act of aggression. It calls upon the parties in dispute to settle it by
peaceful means and recommends methods of adjustment or terms of settlement. In some
cases, the Security Council can resort to imposing sanctions or even authorize the use of
force to maintain or restore international peace and security.

All the members of the United Nations agree to accept and carry out the decisions of the
Security Council. The Security Council has the power to make the decision that member
states are then obligated to implement under the Charter. Resolutions of the Security
Council are typically enforced by UN peacekeepers, which consist of military forces
voluntarily provided by member states and funded independently of the main UN budget.
The UNSC committee differs from other countries in terms of VETO power possessed by
five permanent members of the committee: USA, Republic of China, France, Russian
Federation and United Kingdom

All India Political Parties Meet are conventions that allow the diverse political groups of
India to reach a consensus on issues of national importance, before sessions began. With
the absence of legislative power of the parliament the initial purpose of the forum was for
unrestricted political debate, discussion and deliberation which may not be allowed in
parliament due to time constraints but this body now aids in providing a better insight into
national issues. It is a supplementary body to the parliament without any legislative
provisions. While stepping into the shoes of assigned politician the AIPPM committee
expects its representatives to be well versed, with their political party’s ideology, manifesto
and beliefs which helps the representatives grasp the multi-layered processes that go
behind policy-making and governance in India, providing them with an explicit experience
to the hitches and hurdles that political parties accost in modern times.

The Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) is the principal global
intergovernmental body exclusively dedicated to the promotion of gender equality and the
empowerment of women. A functional commission of the Economic and Social Council
(ECOSOC), it was established by ECOSOC resolution 11(II) of 21 June 1946. Among its
activities, the CSW has drafted several conventions and declarations, including
the Declaration on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women in 1967 and women-
focused agencies such as UNIFEM and INSTRAW. UN Women supports all aspects of
the Commission’s work. We also facilitate the participation of civil society
representatives.
