Principal’s Address
“When the power of love overcomes the love for power, only then will the world know
peace.” - Jimi Hendrix
Greetings!
It gives me immense pleasure to inform you that St. Mark's Senior Secondary Public
School, Janakpuri is organising the second edition of DOXA YOUTH MUN, the Inter-
School Model United Nations.
The perpetually evolving and dynamic world that we are living in, demands the youth of
the nation to unite and acquaint themselves with the world affairs, and acquire the skill
to represent the country on a ‘global’ level. Hence, it becomes our responsibility to
provide a platform to the young torchbearers to voice their opinions confidently and
thus, help them become the best possible version of themselves.
We, through DOXA YOUTH MUN, aspire to develop varied set of skills in students
ranging from leadership, research writing, public speaking, and problem-solving.
Moreover, coming up with solutions that are acceptable to a majority of the
representatives also inculcates skills of negotiation, conflict resolution, and cooperation.
We strongly cultivate the belief that every institution should work towards creating
'global citizens' and for that, MUN, is no less than a fortuity unmatched.
We look forward to witnessing a high quality and thought-provoking discussion by the
participants in this forthcoming event.
Best Wishes

“Don't raise your voice, improve your argument”
This conference aims at making the youth realize their duties towards the nation and
acquainting them with issues at National and International level. We believe that it is the
fundamental duty of every institution to develop youth leadership and imbibe a positive
attitude in the students and for that, DOXA YOUTH MUN, is no less than a fortuity
unmatched.
Looking forward to your participation.

“Deliberation on the human rights violations
of people in Sri Lanka in view of the recent

United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) is a United Nations body whose
mission is to promote and protect human rights around the world . Established on
15 March 2006 by the United Nations General Assembly. The headquarters of the
Council are at the United Nations Office at Geneva in Switzerland.
The primary purpose at UNHCR is to safeguard the rights and well-being of people who
have been forced to flee. Together with partners and communities, we work to ensure
that everybody has the right to seek asylum and find safe refuge in another country. We
also strive to secure lasting solutions.
Even after 15 years, the institution is working effectively towards assisting people and
improving their conditions around the world.
All the members of the United Nations agree to accept and carry out the decisions of the
Security Council. The Security Council has the power to make the decision that member
states are then obligated to implement under the Charter. Resolutions of the Security
Council are typically enforced by UN peacekeepers, which consist of military forces
voluntarily provided by member states and funded independently of the main UN budget.
The UNSC committee differs from other countries in terms of VETO power possessed by
five permanent members of the committee: USA, Republic of China, France, Russian
Federation and United Kingdom

intergovernmental body exclusively dedicated to the promotion of gender equality and the
empowerment of women. A functional commission of the Economic and Social Council
(ECOSOC), it was established by ECOSOC resolution 11(II) of 21 June 1946. Among its
activities, the CSW has drafted several conventions and declarations, including
the Declaration on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women in 1967 and women-
