United State American Military 1960’s Medals System

MEDALS:

Silver Star Medal (SSM) is awarded to those who perform significantly well at
raids; gaining at KDR of at least 3:1 (At least 50 KOs are required)

Legion of Merit (LOM) is awarded to those whose actions have been of significant
benefit to the Army or to the USM in general, but not of a degree that warrants the
awarding of superior medals, such as the MOH, DSM or DSC
Bronze Star Medal (BSM) is awarded to those who perform moderately well at
raids; gaining at KDR of at least 3:1 (At least 30 KOs are required).

Distinguished Service Cross (DSC) is awarded to those whose actions have been
of significant benefit to the Army but ones that do not constitute the awarding of
the Medal of Honor.

Purple Heart (PH) is awarded to those who perform well at raids but cannot be
issued superior awards (such as the SSM or BSM) due to failing to meet the KDR
requirements
Army Commendation Medal (ACM) is awarded to those, typically below the rank
of Colonel, whose actions have been of moderate benefit to the army, or at least
actions that do not warrant the issuing of superior awards

Army Good Conduct Medal (GCM), is awarded to those whose general conduct
has been of an excellent nature
Badges:

Infantryman Badges (IBs) are awarded to Army personnel below the rank of
Colonel who have shown proficiency in combat

Expert EMB Gaining at least 80 KOs in a raid (practice or real) and maintaining a
positive KDR

Sharpshooter SMB Gaining at least 60 KOs in a raid (practice or real) and maintaining a
positive KDR

Marksman MMB Gaining at least 40 KOs in a raid (practice or real) and maintaining a
positive KDR
