GRADUATION OF EARLY COUNTING DEVICES INTO COMPUTERS

Present day computers began from the days of our early counting
devices to mechanical tools. As the need for faster processing and more
accurate results became necessary, several scientists worked round the
clock to develop better calculating devices that can perform complex
calculations.

1. BLAISE PASCAL’S MACHINE ( PASCALINE ) – The machine was

invented by a French scientist named Blaise Pascal. The machine
was called Pascaline. He invented it to make his father’s job as a
tax accountant easier. The machine could add and subtract.

2. LEIBNIZ CALCULATOR MACHINE: This machine was invented by

Gotfried Wilhelm Leibniz in 1673. His machine could add,
subtract, multiply and divide. And it was faster in calculating than
the Pascaline.

3. CHARLES BABBAGE( ANALYTICAL ENG N /;?:INE) : Charles Babbage

was the first to come up with the idea of a computer. Though he
invented computers but failed to build them in his lifetime. He
built two machines, the Difference engine and the Analytical
engine. They worked just like computers.
