Materials and Method

A. Materials used

Ev3 Mind storm - Lego Mind storms is a hardware and

software structure which is produced by Lego for the

development of programmable robots based on Lego building

blocks. It will serve as the main brain of the robot

Ev3 rechargeable battery and Charger - The lithium ion

EV3 Rechargeable DC Battery is designed for use with the

EV3 Intelligent Brick and features a capacity of 2050 mAh. It

provides longer run time than AA batteries and can be

charged without taking the model apart. The battery is

included in the EV3 Education Core Set and has a charge

time of around three to four hours. It requires the 45517 DC Charger, which is the same

charger as used for the rechargeable NXT DC Battery

Ev3 ultrasonic sensor - The digital EV3 Ultrasonic Sensor generates

sound waves and reads their echoes to detect and measure distance

from objects. It can also send single sound waves to work as sonar or

listen for a sound wave that triggers the start of a program.

Ev3 cables - In order to function, motors and sensors must be

connected to the EV3 Brick. Using the following materials: flat

black Connector Cables, link sensors to the EV3 Brick using Input

ports 1, 2, 3, and 4.

Ev3 Blocks - Ev3 blocks are used in making or adding design in

the ev3 Lego mind storm in order for it to do its task or its real

purpose. These serve as building block for the robot to be

functional. This can also be used to add creativity to the robot to

make it look more presentable.

B. General Procedure

a. Research Design

For the conducted study, the researchers used the true experimental research design.

A true experimental research design uses statistical analysis that will be used by the

researcher to accept or reject a hypothesis. The researcher will use two groups, the

experimental group, and the control group. The experimental group will be the one that

will receive the treatment or where we are going to use or test the alarm, while the control

group is the group that won’t receive the treatment to establish the cause-and-effect

relationships. Each group will have a 1 research participants, and the research participants

will be randomly assigned or picked using the fishbowl method.

b. Laboratory Techniques and Procedure

This describes the process involved in identifying and developing a topic for research

experimentation. It was suggested that researchers consider several sources for potential

ideas, including the data that will be collected through the experimentation.

The researcher will start by gathering the materials needed. It includes the ev3 brick,

Ev3 rechargeable battery and Charger, Ev3 ultrasonic sensor, Ev3 cables, and Ev3 Blocks

or the alarm. After making the product the researchers will proceed to the

experimentation.

The research will be conducted in a household and will be using the EV3 LEGO

Mindstorm as a security alarm. After conducting the experiment, the researcher will make

gather all the necessary data about the use of Ev3 Lego mind storm as security alarm. The

researchers will use observation and checklist as a tool to collect or gather data from the

experiment. Observation will be done in both experimental group and control group.

After collecting all the necessary data, the researchers will have a data analysis for our

hypothesis testing

c. Research Instrument

The researcher will make a study and gather all the necessary data about the use of

Ev3 Lego mind storm as security alarm. The researchers will use observation and a

checklist as a tool to collect or gather data from the experiment. Observation is done

using the human senses, which are the sight, smell, and hearing, while checklist is a type

of job aid used to reduce failure by compensating for potential limits of human memory

and attention. Observation is also the easiest way to gather and collect data in a short

period of time. Observation will be done in both experimental group and control group

after and while conducting the experiment to see any effect or changes that happen, and

the checklist will be used to check all the data that was gathered. After collecting all the

necessary data, the researchers will have a data analysis for the hypothesis testing.

d. Sampling technique

The researchers will do the sampling technique for the statistical analysis. The

researchers will do the simple random sampling since our research design is true

experimental. The researchers will select random research participants from the

population that will be assign for the two groups. All the research participants must be

randomly selected and not biased. All the participants must also have an equal chance to

be picked. The researchers will use the fishbowl method to randomly pick or assign the

research participants to the two groups to avoid biased picking

e. Data analysis technique

The researchers will conduct statistical analysis or data analysis in order to

properly use the data and reach the suitable conclusion. The inferential statistic will be

used by the researchers as a statistical treatment. The researchers will divide the

population into two groups, experimental and control, and one of the two groups will get

treatment or participate in the experiment. The data will be collected after the treatment,

and the researchers will conduct a T-test, to compare the average of the two data from the
