Contouring of Target

CT
Exercise
• Outline the phantom
• Set a point as isocenter in the center of the ion
chamber
• Set a 10x10 cm beam at isocenter
• Calculate for 100 cGy at isocenter
• Examine dose distribution at isocenter (magnify)
• It maybe necessary to outline the ion chamber
region and assign the same HU as the cylindrical
phantom

• Interpolate all slices
Contouring the ion chamber
Why contour the ion chamber
• It may be necessary to compare the calculated
and measured dose. The calculated dose may
correlate better with the average dose to the
ion chamber.
Contouring of OPTIM
Why use OPTIM
• Make dose homogeneous around the ion
chamber.
