COURSE GUIDE
Mission : SLSU will produce S and T leaders and competitive professionals generate
breakthrough research in S and T –based disciplines transform and improve the
quality of life in the communities in the service areas be self-sufficient and
financially viable.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course includes temperature and heat, thermal properties of matter, laws of
thermodynamics.

COURSE MATERIALS
The modules will serve as your primary learning guides. Each lesson in the module is
complete with discussions and examples. However, to enrich your learning, pHET Simulations are
included in the module for you to explore which may need internet connectivity. In addition, it may
be best to download the modules so that you do not have to go online to read the modules. You
may print the modules if you deem it most suitable for your learning.
As of this moment, our platform for learning is the Messenger group chat and the Google
classroom exclusive for this course. The Google Classroom for MAJ-SCI 306 is the venue for posting
of the module and submission of your answers and outputs while the Messenger group chat is for
communication purposes only.
You are expected to do independent learning. Take time to read the modules I have
prepared for you and visit the links for pHET simulations. You may also consider other resources
such as videos from YouTube.
STUDY SCHEDULE
COURSE REQUIREMENTS
To pass the course, you must submit the following for the midterm and final term grades:
In the determination of the final grade or rating, the following formula shall be used:
You are required to submit the exercises (Assessment) at the end of each lesson. These will
be the components in the Learning Task which will be 60% of your grade. Likewise, the 40% shall
compose the Summative Test which will be given at every end of the module and to be submitted at
a designated date.
All exercises found in the Assessment section shall be handwritten in a short bond paper.
You must write your name, the lesson number and page number on the bond paper, have it scanned
and post or attach it in Google Classroom. The document file must be saved in .pdf format
following this naming convention:
THERMO_LESSON1_LastNameFirstName.pdf
(e.g., THERMO_LESSON1_SarsaleJackylou.pdf
For scanning of your documents, you may use your android phone and use a scanner app like
Camscanner, Clearscanner, etc. that can be downloaded in Google Playstore.
1. It is assumed that you enrolled in this course because of your sincere desire to gain knowledge
to grow in your field of study. As your faculty, I will do my best to successfully achieve these
objectives.
2. Our primary learning material will be modules which will be provided and be made available
in the Google Classroom.
3. Submit your assignments on or before the due dates to avoid cramming. Late assignments will
still be accepted but must be submitted on the date indicated in the table above.
4. You must be the author of your work. Hence, you are strictly advised not to copy from your
classmates’ work.
5. Always keep propriety and courtesy in mind and conduct yourself in a scholarly manner.
Discussions are academic and must be guided by netiquette; e.g., see
http://online.uwc.edu/Technology/onlEtiquette.asp.
6. Promptly communicate any queries or concerns via the group Messenger. Our Messenger
Group Chat is for communication purposes only regarding this course. Any concerns outside
this course must be communicated elsewhere.
