Assigning Relationships in P6

Relationships can be assigned in P6 by any of the following methods

Relationships

Manually in P6 By Excel

Assign  Using Predecessor ID, 
“Link Activities” 
Predecessors /  Successor ID, Relationship 
Option
Successors Type, & Lag

Assigning Relationships in P6
1. Assign Predecessors / Successors:

• Select the activity

• Select “Relationships” tab in the activity details box

• Assign Predecessors (or Successors) by clicking on “Assign” & selecting the required predecessor
(or successor)

1. Assign Predecessors / Successors (Cont.):

• Another method can be used as follows:

Right Click on the activity and select assign Predecessors / Successors and select one or multiple predecessor / successor

2. Right Click & Link Activities:
Select the predecessor first, then select successor(s) in
• Select the activities to be linked together in
the required order while pressing CTRL, then right click and

• In the exported sheet; insert (or adjust) the Activity ID of predecessor, the Activity ID of successor,
relationship type (FS,SS,FF,SF), lag, & status of predecessor and successor (Not Started, In
Progress, Completed) as shown below then save the file

A hybrid method can also be used by linking some activities manually


and other by using the excel import method
