TUGTUG ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Empower Life-long Learners through ICT

Proponent: RONNABEL S. VIARO
I. A. Project Description:
Various sectors are challenged by the Covid-19 pandemic, particularly
when it comes to defending fundamental rights. Basic education is one of the
sectors that is severely impacted by the physical isolation and community
quarantine methods used to contain COVID-19 since schools and community
learning centers are closed for the physical conduct of classes. As a result, the
Department of Education was able to create the Basic Education Learning
Continuity Plan (BE-LCP), which will allow basic education students to continue
their education and teachers to carry out their duties in a secure setting despite
the threat posed by COVID-19.

Tugtug Elementary School keeps working toward its goal of giving students
a top-notch foundational education while adjusting to the present adjustments
brought on by the pandemic. Teachers and learners feel that they are one
through the Project ELLICT initiative, despite their distance. This project was
initiated and implemented by the School ICT coordinator in her Grade 4-6
classes which was later on adopted by other teachers and implemented in the
whole school community with the approval and permission of the school head.

The relevance and significance of building support via various types of

communication between teachers and students are emphasized in this program.
It outlines the department's expectations that, notwithstanding the
circumstances, learning never ceases. Teachers must constantly make time to
help students feel like they are not alone on this difficult path in order to give
them the bravery and inspiration they need to get through these challenging

times. This initiative aids teachers in understanding the value of their
presence in the classroom given how challenging it will be for both parents
and students to adjust to and meet the academic standards for the SY-
2020-2021 up to the present.

B. Objectives:
The primary goal of this program is to aid and support learners through
information communication technology (ICT) while adapting to the new normal
set up. Likewise, it also aims to provide learners with feedback that will help them
assess their own learning despite not having classroom interaction.

Terminal Objective
At the end of the school year, learners must be able to handle and adapt
to modular distance learning under the constant effort and supervision of
teachers in order to move on to the next grade level without receiving failing
remarks. Terminal Objective

II. Significant Accomplishments:

A. Scope and Outstanding Contribution or Innovation:

This project focused on enhancing the role of communication in the
new norm in order to provide the learners with the fundamental education
they need despite the difficulties caused by the epidemic. This specifically
calls for the active participation and cooperation of all the teachers,
students, and parents at Tugtug Elementary School in terms of identifying
ways and channels of communication with one another to provide and
receive updates that are essential to students' learning achievement and
progress as well as supporting the students in embracing the challenges
and difficulties in comprehending the lessons on the modules. These ways
of communication may include, but are not limited to, text messages,
phone calls, group chats, and online meetings. As Tugtug Elementary
Schhol supports DepEd’s advocacy #SulongEdukalidad, this project starts
its implementation last school year 2020-2021 and due to its vital
contribution which brought significant impact in providing quality
education for the learners of Tugtug ES, this project is still in its function up to
the SY2021-2022.

B. Beneficiaries:
School Year 2021-2022
All learners from Kinder to Grade6 (850)

C. Impact of Contribution/Innovation:
Upon the implementation of the Project ELLICT, there were 14 learners or 1.6%
of the total enrolment who dropped out from the class and 0 failure rate was
recorded at the end of the school year.

The data gathered from during the SMEPA presentation, revealed that during
the SY 2020-2021, dropped out rate was 2.5% while during the SY 2021-2022.
dropped out rate decreased to 1.5%. Furthermore, SY 2020-2021 has .48% failure
rate while SY 20221-2022 recorded 0% failure rate at the end of the school year.

The data gathered from SF6 (see next page), it shows that the academic
performance of the learners increased 12% based from their learning progress
and achievement.

D. Reliability of Contribution/Innovation
1. Replicability of the Innovation or Contribution

This project was first implemented in in KS2, during the first quarter of
the SY 2020-2021, and replicated or adopted by all teachers in their classes
from the 2nd quarter of the said school year up to SY 2021-2022 as
recommended and permitted by the school head.

2. Support contributed by internal and external stakeholders to the

innovation or contribution
Full participation of internal and external stakeholders is highly
evident during the implementation of the project. Parents were all eager to
communicate and in fact, they showed their willingness to learn some
mobile applications like video calls, playing video lessons, answering links
coming from the school for some surveys, creating videos of their children
while completing performance tasks. For those who were not able to be
reached by phone, Brgy. Officials, BHW and other community workers were
tapped to inform and reached the families of those children. Furthermore,
assistance of Bgry. Officials were also being asked for teachers who did
home visitations.

5. Responsive to the needs of the stakeholders/beneficiaries

The goal of Project is to assist educators, students, and parents in
maintaining a safe home environment for learning. However, this project can also serve
as a platform for other causes, such as encouraging teachers to find new ways to
engage with their students, particularly those who are struggling and finding it
extremely difficult to study due to distractions and the lack of a guardian at home who
can properly instruct them. In addition to this, teachers can use Project ELLICT to
develop video lessons, construct intervention materials, and offer learners alternative
information sources to aid them in their progress through the present delivery method.

This project, as per the comments of all teachers, learners and parents is
responsive to the needs of beneficiaries.
