1. Abstract
This report covers the Complex Engineering Problem (CEP) of a remote-controlled
hybrid ploughing machine. It includes varied aspects like the mathematical
analysis, Design & simulation. This report talks in length about the scope of the
CEP, methodology employed, Parametric study, ANSYS analysis and discusses
the results obtained. Results obtained are shown with the help of graphs and
pictures to better grasp the concept.

2. Introduction
Since thousands of years until now the farming is dependent on oxen drawn plough
plow. But this system is labor intensive, time consuming and its depth of ploughing
is shallow. These draw backs of existing agricultural system result in insufficient
productivity. Now a day’s modern agricultural machines are used. But they are
used by few organizations, small agriculture investors. Using this machine results
in considerable improvements in productivity of farmers at lower cost.

This CEP covers the design and simulation aspect of this full-scale project. Design
and simulation are of very fundamental importance. Before fabrication and
manufacturing, the CAD model design and Analysis must be done to foresee the
potential problems and identify the scope of the project. It also provides the design
specifics of the project.

We are improving already existing ploughing machines by making them hybrid and
a low-cost equipment for small scale farmers. It is more fuel efficient, uses clean
energy and easily accessible device/machine than already existing heavy and
large-scale machine which consume more energy and aren’t available to
everyone. This is also a step towards a smart farming revolution in Pakistan.

3. Design and Modelling

3.1. Design Methodology
Following were the steps involved in simulation while designing this CEP on
ANSYS
• First open the Ansys workbench 2021 R2 version.
• Select the Explicit dynamics from the analysis system.
• After that a table will appear where we will work on our simulation.
• The first was to choose Material from engineering data i.e., Structural
Steel, Mild steel,
• Then select geometry where we design our geometry according to specific
parameters, for thickness and round corners of design we use the pull icon.
• Once the design was ready close the geometry section.

• After that select the model portion where we apply different boundary
conditions. Select the geometry assign specific material to design. Then
insert fixed support and displacement and specify faces for each.
• Select Mesh and specify the mesh size and then generate mesh.
• At last, select solution insert the required results like total deformation,
stress etc. which we required and click on the solution.
• Once the solution completed, generate the report of the simulated results.
3.2. Experimental methodology
A protype (scaled down version) of the full-scale project will be made for testing
in laboratory.

5. Conclusion
The aim of this CEP was to understand how CAD and Numerical analysis takes
place and how to integrate this analysis while doing a project or a solving a real-
world problem. We took design and Analysis part of our FYP (final year project)
and treated it as a CEP for this subject.
During this CEP, after analysis of our model design we learnt about the effects of
loading on chassis of model and which type of deformations will occur due to these
loadings and the extent of such happenings. We came to know about a lot of
design specifics about our project and the suitable choice of material for fabrication
of different parts.
