USED IN WELDING

A welding helmet is a type of headgear used when performing

certain types of welding to protect the eyes, face and neck from
flash burn, ultraviolet light, sparks, infrared light, and heat.

PASSIVE WELDING HELMETS/REGULAR

HELMETS- is the most basic type of welding helmet. The passive
welding helmet is not a modernized helmet with fancy features, but
this does not take away from its effectiveness. It is well-built with
tough material. It protects its wearer from flying objects, ultraviolet
rays, and the extreme heat emitted from welding.

AUTO-DARKENING WELDING HELMETS – It will

detect the light that is emitted and will adjust the lens
accordingly. This feature was implemented in helmets because
welders believed that the constant manual adjusting of the lens
distracted them and significantly reduced their productivity.

WELDING GOGGLES – is designed to provide protection for certain types of Gas

Welding or Oxygen Cutting applications. Welding Goggles not only
protect your eyes from the heat and flying debris, but also from
intense ultraviolet and infrared light.

WELDING GLOVES - are personal protective equipment (PPE)

that protect the hands of welders from the hazards of welding. These gloves
allow digit articulation while protecting the operator from electrical shock,
extreme heat, and ultraviolet and infrared radiation, and also provide
abrasion resistance and enhanced grip.

THE CLIMAX 10 LEATHER WELDING APRON - is

designed and constructed to provide full protection against the risk
of flying molten metal and glowing particles produced during
welding jobs or similar work.

STEEL TOE WORK SHOES AND BOOTS - are

designed to protect your feet from being crushed by falling objects
or from being punctured by sharp objects

FIRE EXTINGUISHER, PORTABLE OR MOVABLE

APPARATUS - used to put out a small fire by directing onto it a
substance that cools the burning material, deprives the flame of
oxygen, or interferes with the chemical reactions occurring in the
flame.
FIRST AID KIT - is a box, bag or pack that holds supplies used to treat minor injuries
including cuts, scrapes, burns, bruises, and sprains. More elaborate first aid kits can also include
survival supplies, life-saving emergency supplies or convenience items like bug sting wipes or
cold & flu medicines.

DIFFERENT KINDS OF TOOLS AND EQUIPMENTS IN WELDING

1) WELDING MACHINE – It is a device used to join

materials together. Welding machines produce heat that
melts metal parts so that these parts can be joined. Thus,
when it cools, it becomes a fixed and resistant joint.

2) STEEL MEASURING TAPE – A flexible ruler used

to measure distance. It consists of a metal blade with
linear-measurement. Its design allows for a measure of
great length to be easily carried in a pocket or toolkit.
It permits one to measure around curves or corners.

3) ANGLE RULER - it is capable of making all geometrical constructions whose analytic

formulation leads to equations of the second degree
whose coefficients represent possessed lengths and
whose roots are real.

4) BALL HAMMER- It is used for peening (surface

hardening by impact), it is useful for many tasks, such
as striking punches and chisels (usually performed
with the flat face of the hammer). The peening face is
useful for rounding off edges of metal pins and
fasteners, such as rivets.

5) SLEDGE HAMMER – also known as heavy duty

hammer is used for demolition jobs where high force is
required. It has a large, flat metal head attached to a long
wooden handle. The length of the handle allows the tool to
gain momentum while swinging, and the heavy metal head
results in amplified force compared to a usual hammer.

6) CHIPPING HAMMER/EDGE HAMMER – is a tool

used to remove welding slag from a weld and welding
spatter from alongside welds. Used by carefully swinging
and hitting the weld to shatter the slag.
7) STEEL BRUSH – is used for cleaning the welding
surface, removal of slag, rust etc. The brush has
stainless steel bristles.

8) LOCKING PLIERS – is used where more torque is needed to pry or remove objects or
where added grip is needed for holding objects in
place. Most uses include loosening tight connection
points such as pipe-joints, seized nuts and washers
and removing broken nails.

9) WELDING PLYIERS – is a single tool designed

for six functions which include nozzle and tip installation,
wire cutting, nozzle cleaning, slag hammer and spatter
removal.

10) HACKSAW – is a type of hand tool designed specifically

for cutting through materials such as plastic, steel, and
other metals. They are a variant of the traditional hand saw,
typically used for cutting wood, and have become a staple
tool for professionals and hobbyists alike.

11) LONG NOSE PLIERS – is use to grip small objects,

reach awkward places, holding wires, bend loops, and
attach wires. Work involving smaller gauge wire.

12) TORX SCREWS – is typically used in vehicles,

motorcycles, bicycles, computer systems, hard disk
drives and consumer electronics. The unusual star-
shaped head makes them far more secure than regular
flat- head or cross- head screws and allows higher
torque transmission so screw and bolts can be
tightened more securely.

13) FLAT-HEAD SCREWDRIVER – A screwdriver with a

wedge-shaped flat tip, used to tighten or loosen screws
that have a straight, linear notch in their heads.
14) BENCH GRINDER - Depending on the bond and grade of the grinding wheel, it may
be used for sharpening cutting tools such as tool bits, drill bits, chisels, and gouges.
Alternatively, it may be used to roughly shape metal prior to welding or fitting.

15) BENCH VISE – is use to hold an object safety and

securely so that it can be worked on. Bench vises make
work such as sanding, finishing, chipping, sawing, and
welding easier by freeing the operator's hands to perform
the needed task.

16) ELECTRODE OVENS – is designed to store welding

electrodes properly in order to prevent moisture absorption,
which produces porosity in the weld deposit. Electrode
ovens also serve as a re-drying equipment in order restore
the welding electrodes' quality.

17) ELECTRODE – It is used to conduct current through a

work piece to fuse two pieces together. Depending upon the
process, the electrode is either consumable, in the case of gas
metal arc welding or shielded metal arc welding, or non-
consumable, such as in gas tungsten arc welding.

18) CUTTING TOOL OR CUTTER – is typically a hardened

metal tool that is used to cut, shape, and remove material from
a work piece by means of machining tools as well as abrasive
tools by way of shear deformation.
