Tips
Using your own words – means do not copy or lift from the text. They want to see you understand meanings.
If the question is worth 2 marks please give 3 answers
If the question is worth 1 mark please try and give 2 answers

Tips
This is a summary and the technique for this is to list or highlight the points and then number them in groups
so that the similar points are together.
Then write it in complex and compound sentences in a logical order. This means putting similar ideas together
rather than just following the flow of the original text.
If the summary asks for two things then use two paragraphs. You can use two paragraphs even if it asks you to
summarise one idea, but be logical.

Tips
It is not enough to find the literary technique. You need to say what impression or effect it has. Use the
context of the text to help with this. Write an overall first line if you have time on the effect of the paragraph
and then give your three phrases to support that with the impression it creates. First think literally – what does
the word MEAN, name the technique if there is one and then thinking beyond the literal to the impression it
creates. i.e. ‘Like a marshmallow’. Literal: small white soft sweet squares Technique: Simile Impression:
Depends on context: Desirable enticing soothing
Answer Q 3 - text transformation question 25 marks Time 37.5 minutes

You will use the information from Text C
Then follow the instructions on transformation to a new genre and who you are as the writer and who you are
as the reader or listener. i.e. FORM, WHO are you, AUDIENCE
Follow the three bullet points
The last bullet point usually asks for some level of creativity – BUT your answer should be logical and tethered
to the passage.
