CBSE Class 9 Maths Paper 5
Section A
1. In a frequency distribution, the mid-value of a class is 10 and the width of the class is 6.
Find the lower limit of the class.
2. Two adjacent angles of a parallelogram are (2𝑥 + 30)° and (3𝑥 + 30)° . Find the value of 𝑥.
3. Find the area of the canvas required to make a conical tent of height 24 m and slant height
25 m.
Section B
5. Eleven bags of wheat flour, each marked 10 kg actually, contained the following weights
(in kg) of flour.
10.05, 10.20, 10.00, 9.75, 10.00, 10.03, 9.95, 10.35, 9.90, 10.00, 10.08
Find the probability that any of these bags chosen at random contains.
(i) More than 10 kg of wheat flour.
(ii) Less than 9.5 kg of wheat flour.

6. Prove that the area of a trapezium ABCD = 2 (AB + CD) × CM where, CM is the distance
between parallel sides AB and CD (see figure).
7. Draw a line segment 6.5 cm long and draw its perpendicular bisector.
8. Find the lateral surface area of a right circular cone of height 24 cm and base radius 7 cm.
10. The percentage of marks obtained by a student in Mathematics in five monthly unit tests
are given below:
Unit test I II III IV V
Percentage of marks obtained 69 71 73 68 74
Find the probability that the student gets more than 70% marks in the next unit test.
Section C
11. There were 35 students in a hostel. Due to the admission of 7 new students, the expenses
of the mass were increased by ` 42 per day, while the average expenditure per head
diminished by ` 1. What was the original expenditure of the mass?
12. The average weight of A, B and C is 45 kg. If the average weight of A and B be 40 kg and
that of B and C be 43 kg, then find the weight of B.
13. ABC is a triangle, right angled at C. A line through the mid-point M of hypotenuse AB and
1
parallel to BC intersects AC at D. Show that CM = MA = 2 AB.
14. Two congruent circles intersect each other at points A and B. Through point A, any line
segment PAQ is drawn, so that P and Q lie on the two circles. Prove that BP = BQ.
16. Construct a parallelogram whose adjacent sides are 4 cm and 7.5 cm and adjacent angles
are given in the ratio 1 : 2, respectively.
17. In the given figure, M is the centre of the circle and chords AB and CD are perpendicular
to each other. If ∠MAD = 𝑥° and ∠BAC = 𝑦°, then
18. Squares each of side 6 cm are cut-off from the four corners of a sheet of tin measuring 42
cm × 30 cm. The remaining portion of tin sheet is made into an open box by folding up the
flaps. Find the capacity of the box.
Section D
19. Mean of the 50 observations was found to be 80.4. But later on, it was discovered that 96
was read as 69 at one place. Find the correct mean.
21. In ∆ABC, the perpendicular from vertices A and B on their opposite sides meet (when
produced) the circumcircle of the triangle at points D and E, respectively. Prove that
arc CD ≅ arc CE.
22. In the given figure, AB is a diameter of the circle with centre O. DO is parallel to CB and
∠DCB = 120°. Calculate ∠DAB, ∠DBA, ∠DBC and ∠ADC.
25. Show that the area of a rhombus is half the product of the lengths of its diagonals.
27. Find the radius of a sphere whose volume is numerically equal to its surface area. Also,
find its volume.
28. Cards marked with the numbers 2 to 101 are placed in a box and mixed thoroughly. One
card is drawn from this box. Find the probability that the number on the card is
(i) An even number.
(ii) A number less than 14.
(iii) A number which is a perfect square.
(iv) A prime number less than 20.
