Google Docs
Google Docs Documents is a word processing application similar to Word.

Setting Objectives
Since Google docs includes a publish button, you can use this tool to easily share objectives with students and parents. Generate a KWHL chart that can be reviewed, edited and shared

Providing Feedback
Use the Insert Comments and the Revision History during peer or teacher evaluations to provide feedback, or view peer feedback, and view response to feedback. Use the Tools menu and choose Word Count to provide feedback on the sophistication of a document by calculating its complexity in terms of sentence length and the number of syllables in the words used.

Cues, questions and advance organizers


Advanced organizers can be created by using the drawin tools.

Nonlinguistic representation
Add visual elements such as clipart and photos to a text document

Summarizing and Notetaking


Create a T organizer with combination notes. Students use software to take notes. The automatic formatting (bullets, outlines) will allow them to take note quickly. Using Google Docs Documents, students can take notes collaboratively. With Google Docs you could allow several students to summarize the same article and be able to see who did what to the document by viewing the Revision History.

Cooperative learning
Using the Sharing feature and comments of Google Docs, groups can collaborate, communicate, and publish group projects.

Recognition
Using the Publish feature you can easily publish outstanding student work online.

Identifying similarities and differences


If you dont have access to special organizing and brainstorming software, you can use a word processor to create diagrams, classification tables, and other templates. Go to the Insert menu and choose Drawing.

Homework and Practice


Since Google Docs browser-based, available from any computer connected to the Internet, students can access their files from various locations. Using the Sharing feature, teachers can distribute and collect assignments using Google Docs. See the Google Docs handout for the details on how to do this. Google Docs has a Tools menu that features: Define that students could use when practicing or completing homework assignments.
