Outlet Classification Rules

 Based on prescribed characteristics


 NOT by store sign
 Mestizo
o Can be classified under 2 types
o Judgment will be based on line of business which accounts for bigger portion of outlet’s
earnings OR main source of income (SOI)

A. RESTAURANT

Must Descriptors  Predominantly cooked as ordered


 Menu booklet/board
SOI: FOOD  Waiters/waitresses
Also serves  Complete meals (i.e. rice w/ viands)
food&bev  Operates independently

Mestizo  Without dance Only one trade name

B. FAST-FOOD CENTER (Food court)

Other Descriptors  Usually in commercial centers/malls

C. FAST-FOOD/FAST-FOOD CHAIN/PIZZA PARLOR

Must Descriptors
FAST-FOOD  Similar to fast-food center but not housed with other outlets
 Less than 3 branches
 Uniformed personnel

FAST-FOOD CHAIN  Similar to fast-food center but not house with other outlets
 Has at least 3 branches
 Uniformed personnel

Type 25: GASTROPUBS

Must Descriptors  High-end outlets


 Feature specialty dishes (i.e. buffalo wings) or cuisine (i.e. Russian, German)
SOI: FOOD  Wide variety of alcobev (local to imported beers/HL/wines/spirits)
SEC: AB  Open in the morning (SOI: FOOD); shifts to alcobev at night

Other Descriptors  May or may not be loc. In upscale clusters (i.e. BGC, Glorietta)
 May or not sell craft beers (i.e. Katipunan Ale)

Type 26: BUFFET-TYPE OUTLETS

Must Descriptors  Eat-all-you-can style (pay a certain amount to avail buffet)

SOI: FOOD
Other Descriptors  May or may not be loc. Inside malls

Type 2: Carinderia/Lugawan/Canteen/Refreshment Parlor

A. CARINDERIA

Must Descriptors  Predominantly ready-to-serve/pre-cooked viands; LIMITED


 “Turo-turo” style
SOI: FOOD  Permanent roof visible at all times
Also serves  Predominantly consumed within outlet premises
food&bev  Must seat at least 6 persons at any given time
 If do not own bev contrainers (buy from other stores upon customer
request), must have mark-up in order to be considered selling

Mestizo If main SOI: BEER >50% of beer vol. is from
