UNIT N° 01 – Social Organization: Importance of family


LESSON 4 – “All about unit 1”

Purpose: To talk about my family and myself.

EYES ON ME
ACTIVITY 1: It’s time to finish unit 1. Let’s play “Chinese Whisper”. (Vocabulary review: jobs – appendix 1)

Instructions for the teacher

Split the class into two or more teams. Whisper a word into the ears
of the first students in each row. They whisper the word into the
next student’s ear in their row until the whisper gets to the last
student in the row. The last student in the row has to say out the
word. The team or teams that get the pronunciation right scores a
point.

ACTIVITY 2: Look at these photos and name the members of the family. Then, use your imagination to
answer the questions in the chart below. Take risks, make mistakes but speak!

My lovely family!
Hello! My name is Shivali. I’m thirteen years old. I am from the USA. I am American.
I study at Springfield Middle School in Ohio.

This is a photo of my lovely family. This is my dad. His name is Peter. He is 48. He is
from the USA. He is an engineer. This is my mom. She is Sharon. She is 44. She is
also American. She is a professor at Bowling Green State University. This is my
brother. He is Sherav. He is thirteen too. We are twins. My grandparents are from
India. They are not in the photo but I love them. They are 80. They are retired.

In this photo, we are on vacation in a beautiful restaurant in Ho Chi Minh city,


Vietnam. I am the one with the red glasses and blue t-shirt. It is hot here. Our
coconut drinks are fresh and delicious. I am excited!
