Step By Step Process to Configure Site List

Manager and use for Edge with IE Mode


• Manually Disable IE from group policy
o Open the Group Policy Editor.
o Go to Computer Configuration/Administrative Templates/Windows
Components/Internet Explorer.
o Double-click Disable Internet Explorer 11 as a standalone browser.
o Select Enabled.
o Under Options, pick one of the following values:
▪ Never if you don’t want to notify users that IE11 is disabled.
▪ Always if you want to notify users every time they're redirected from
IE11.
▪ Once per user if you want to notify users only the first time they are
redirected.

• Manually Add Edge Policy Template (If not Present in Group Policy)
o Search Download Edge Policy Template
o https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/edge/business/download
• After Download unzip the policy
• Copy MicrosoftEdgePolicyTemplates\windows\admx\msedge.admx file and paste
into C:\windows\PolicyDefinitions
• Copy MicrosoftEdgePolicyTemplates\windows\admx\en-US\msedge.adml file and
paste into C:\windows\PolicyDefinitions\en-US
• Now Open Group Policy this will display Edge setting like
• Download Site List Manager

• Search Enterprise Site list manager for window

• Download and install it
• Window search Enterprise Mode Site list manager and open it
• Prepare Site list Manager XML File

• Open Enterprise Site list manager and Add New


• Only Add Domain like ec2-34-217-153-232.us-west-
2.compute.amazonaws.com:8001 without http://

o Note:- Assure you do not select Allow Redirect Flag for any site, It redirect
load to IE application which can generate 404 Page not found error on Edge
with IE mode.
o Go to File → Save to XML and Save to Local File
• Configure Group Policy for IE mode and Set Site List Manager XML File
o Open Group Policy → Administrative Template → Microsoft Edge →
Configure Internet Explorer integration → Enable

• Select Internet Explorer mode and Enabled option and Apply

• Open Group Policy → Administrative Template → Microsoft Edge → Configure the


Enterprise Mode Site List
• Refer to the below image

• Enable and Add Local XML File


• Refer to the below image

o Apply and Save


• Test URL Auto Redirect to Edge with IE Mode
o Open Microsoft Edge and Go to Setting
o Type edge://compat/enterprise
o this will open this window

• Now Click on Force update this will display all the Site list that is configured with
site list manager
o If Force update fails or shows sign of warning/error, connect to VPN and then
kill all MS Edge instances and restart. This is only applicable when your
browser managed by your organization. Please see note on settings page of
MS Edge browser.
• Now Open Window R and Type iexplore http://www.google.com this will redirect
and Open MSEdge with IE Mode
