VOCAL STUDIES SUPPORTING STUDIES TERM 1

Subject: Svetlana Zvereva

Tutor: Russian Language
Student Comments
Flora Birkbeck Flora demonstrates great interest in the Russian language. She has
a relatively well-developed stock of vocabulary and good
pronunciation. Having missed some classes for valid reasons, she
tryed to catch the classes and not to give up. Fiona has everything
needed to get good results, and shows both talent and motivation.
I’m very keen she started to sing Russian repertoire and asked
advise about the pronounsiation. I’m axpecting that in curent term
she will attended classes more regularly.

David Corr David displays interest in Russian and good abilities. Although the
phonetic base he uses is not close to what is needed for Russian, he
makes effort to overcome these difficulties.
Unfortunately, his preoccupation with other commitments at the
conservatory did not allow him to attend classes regularly and his
results in the first term were not impressive.
But he is showing enthusiasm and motivation which in the future, if
he does the homework and reduces the number of missed lessons to
a minimum, will enable him to master Russian and use it in his
career as a professional performer.

Colum Donovan Colum is an intelligent and gifted student and copes excellently with
Patterson
the difficult pronunciation of Russian. He picks up the peculiarities of
spoken Russian with subtlety and is able to reproduce them. He is
notable for his sensitive, precise perception in relation to sounds as
well. He obtains good results in reading and understanding as well.
His prospects as a singer who performs Russian repertoire are most
favourable.

Roisin Lavery Roisin is an excellent student and she can allow herself to sing
Russian repertoire. In general, I am satisfied with her pronunciation,
reading and the level of understanding of Russian speech. However,
she needs to consolidate and improve her knowledge.
However, like many other students, she suffers from the shortage of
time she can devote to learning Russian. Having missed some
classes for valid reasons, Roisin always asks for the material she
has missed to be sent to her. Greater success demands not missing
lessons, of which there are few anyway. For everyone, it is desirable
to find opportunities for more practice. I hope very much that in this
term this gifted student will come to the lessons more regularly and
will reach exellent results in studying Russian and singing in
Russian.

Sam Leggett Sam is a very capable, motivated and purposeful student. His results
in the study of phonetics, reading, and understanding are quite
satisfactory.
I think he has a chance to achieve very good results by this term in
my subject, assuming that he will be able to devote more time to the
Russian language.

Bror Pike Bror is showing progress. The result in mastering phonetics
corresponds to what is expected. He learns Russian phonetics
extremely easily, but I would ask him to remember that
pronunciation and reading skills need automation and therefore
I would ask him in the second term to attend as many lessons
as possible. I also recommend to Bror not to forget to study
handouts and learn the vocabulary of the lessons. Russian
vocal repertoire for Bror's voice is very rich and all his efforts in
learning Russian language will pay off in full.
