Senior Citizen and Persons-With-Disability
discounts for senior citizens and PWDs shall
continue to be given for drugs subject to the
MRP.
Price caps for drugs listed under EO 104 has
been in effect since 02 June 2020. For the
new round of pricing regulation thru EO 155,
the new price caps shall take effect on 23
March 2022.
Violations may be reported to the Regional
Drug Price Monitoring Officers (RDPMO)
of your respective region. The directory of
RDPMOs and complaints form are available
at https://pharma.doh.gov.ph/maximum-
drug-retail-price/.
Violations of EO 104 and 155 are punishable
under the law as stipulated in the Cheaper
Medicines Act (Republic Act 9502).
Administrative fines not less than Fifty
thousand pesos (Php 50,000.00) and not more
than Five million pesos (Php 5,000,000.00)
shall be given for proven violations of the
Executive Orders 104 and 155.
No, EO 821 s. 2009 which prescribed MRP on
five (5) molecules: amlodipine, atorvastatin,
azithromycin, cytarabine, and doxorubin has
been repealed by EO 155 s. 2021. Generic
brands are already available which make
these medicines affordable to consumers.
Ask the pharmacist/pharmacy assistant at
your local pharmacy to present all available
brands for a particular generic drug. It is your
right to choose and buy which medicines
are affordable to you. Generic medicines are
similar to branded ones in terms of safety,
efficacy, and quality.
