OBJECTIVE:
To compare and report the weekly weather of Ghazipur
(UP) with that of Kota (Rajasthan) and Patna (Bihar).

THEORY:
An electronic instrument called an AWS, or automatic
weather station, is used to measure various variables like
wind speed, wind direction, precipitation, air
temperature, etc. affect and constitute the weather.

PARAMETERS MEASURING DEVICE

▫ Air temperature Thermometer
▫ Atmospheric Pressure Barometer
▫ Humidity Hygrometer
▫ Wind speed Anemometer
▫ Precipitation Rain gauge
▫ Sunshine Pyranometer
AWS measures the above listed parameters.

• Visit AWS IMD website.
• Open Tabular Data/ Graph >> Select State >> Select
District > > Select Station.
• Observe the following parameters and make the
graph:
• Temperature Mean Daily
• Precipitation (∑Hourly)
• Humidity
• Wind Speed

GRAPH AND RESULT:

DISCUSSION:
The aim of AWS is to monitor weather phenomenon for
forecasting, climatology and research.
Although we have data for only a relatively brief period,
our results can help stakeholders.
The system is readily adaptable to the addition of other
measuring elements, such as electric hydrometer for
improved measurement of relative humidity, photoelectric
cells for measuring visibility and related factors etc.
The system can be used by field crew.
