Year 8 Camp

Lake Dewar Lodge – YMCA Camps

Dates
Camp Hollows and Freeman
Monday 9 – Wednesday 11 May

Camp Dunlop and Melba

Wednesday 11 – Friday 13 May
Location
Lake Dewar Lodge is in
Myrniong near Werribee
Gorge.
It is thought that the name
Myrniong derived from an
Aboriginal word meaning an edible
root. Until about 1863 the locality
was known as Blow’s Flat, not
especially apt because most of
Myrniong is hilly!
“We are all visitors to
this time, this place. We
are just passing
through. Our purpose
here is to observe, to
learn, to grow, to love…
and then we return
home.”

Activities
‘The Year 8 camp was very engaging
and fun. Almost all of the activities were
fun and there was a lot of free time in
between activities, where we could play
basketball, footy, sit with friends etc. The
food was pretty decent and the curfew
was reasonable. Overall it was a good
experience.’
