Understanding and Managing Emotions to Elevate your

Next Interview

Looking for ways to elevate your next interview? Understanding and managing emotions through
emotional intelligence techniques, such as cultivating gratitude, is a key element to success as a
professional educator. Many employers are now seeking evidence of emotional intelligence
demonstrated in a professional context during interviews. One simple way to demonstrate your
emotional intelligence—more specifically, your ability to manage stress and emotions—is by sharing
gratitude. Consider keeping a daily gratitude journal or keeping a log to compile examples to
incorporate into your next interview. So, what are you grateful for today?

If you would like to further discuss ways to increase your emotional intelligence or incorporate
examples into your professional interviews, please feel free to contact Career & Professional
Development to schedule an appointment.

Denver Scavenger Hunt

Night Owls of Denver, join WGU for an out-of-the-house adventure to celebrate Juneteenth!
We’re hosting a scavenger hunt to celebrate the holiday—and everyone is invited to participate!

Juneteenth marks the date of June 19, 1865, when slaves in Galveston, Texas, were freed by the
Union Army. This holiday therefore commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and
celebrates emancipation. WGU recognizes Juneteenth as an official university holiday and invites
the community to join us to celebrate Black history in Denver.

On your scavenger hunt, your team of family and friends will visit historic neighborhoods, discover
Black-owned businesses, and compete in challenges to earn points.
