Course Objectives
 To enable them to understand the foundations of recruitment and selection
 To gain a conceptual understanding on recruitment and selection
 Apply recruitment tools in analysing and shortlisting candidates
 Develop appropriate techniques for hiring employees
 To make them Understand challenges of recruitment

Course Outcomes
After completion of the course, the students will be able to

UNIT I JOB ANALYSIS (12 Hrs)


Meaning, definition, and purpose. Methods of job analysis: Nature of hiring: regular, temporary, full time, part
time, apprentice, contractual, and outsourcing, Existing post, or new post to be created, Need analysis, cost
analysis and job analysis- Fundamentals of Job Description.

UNIT II SOURCES OF HIRING (12 Hrs)


Sources of internal and External recruitment: - Introduction, Sources of candidates, Recruitment, Outsourcing,
Attracting candidates, E–Recruitment, Person specifications Online recruitment; employee referrals;
recruitment process outsourcing, head hunting.

UNIT III RECRUITMENT ANALYTICS (12


Hrs)
Recruitment and Selection – Concept - Strategic Issues in Recruitment –Recruitment Metrics – Bad
Recruitment – What is Competency – Competency Measurement and BARS-Overview of Hiring Process.

UNIT IV SELECTION ANALYTICS (12 Hrs)


Knowledge of Matching CVs – Process of Shortlisting – Filtering – Knowledge based filtering – skill-based
filtering – behavioral filtering-Selection Process and tests- Selection Methods, Psychological tests, Types of
tests, Validity of tests, interpreting test results, Psychometric tests, online test, Importance of tests, Final
stages.

UNIT V INTERVIEWING AND PROBING TECHNIQUES (12 Hrs)


Introduction to Interviewing – the overall interview Process – Stages of the interview – QuanCom Questions
and Behavioral Indicators – 4 Key Interview Skills – Body Language – Different types of Questioning methods
– evaluation of the interview process.
