Introduction to the Curriculum Vitae
Summary of professional and academic experiences and
skills
• Focuses on the individual’s academic and research
background
• Looks into pertinent information related to one’s
academic experiences (awards, seminars, memberships,
etc.)
• Recommended for those who wish to apply for the
academia, scientific research, or medical fields
Introduction to the Curriculum Vitae
Recommended for fresh graduates or entry-level
candidates
• Individuals as such do not have experience yet
• Individuals are ‘fresh out of school’, and as such, tends to
have academic experience only
• Good way to showcase what was achieved during school
• The length of the CV would be around 2-3 pages for these
types of individuals

Name and Contact Information
• The name must be at the very top of the page, with the
biggest font
• Write the birth name as: First Name M.I. Last Name
• Include the following contact information:
• Complete current address
• Mobile / telephone number
• Email address
• Online portfolio link
• Information placed are correct and updated
• Ensure a professional, working email address

Educational Attainment
• There are four main educational attainments: undergraduate,
senior high school, junior high school, and primary
• Include the following per level:
• Course, track, and strand
• Name of school
• Complete address of school
• Date of graduation / moving up (month and year only)
• If you are not graduating yet, indicate the expected date instead
• If you have attended multiple schools for one educational
attainment, only include the one where you have graduated /
moved up from

Work Experience
• Pertains to any job within any given point in time
• Do not include: commission-based work, any work that is not
under a company, and work with notable hiatuses
• Please delete the entire section (with the header) if it is not
applicable to you
• Per position, include the following:
• Official designation / position
• Name of company / business
• Complete address of company / business
• Start and end dates (month and year only)

Skills and Qualifications
• Pertains to any skills and/or qualifications that may help you in the
line of work / academia you intend to go to
• Include the following:
• Certifications (i.e. TESDA National Certification, Microsoft, TOEIC, IBM, etc.)
• Software, applications, programming languages used with proficiency level
• Other technical skills with proficiency level
• Relevant soft skills with relevant proof
• Be very specific by utilizing adjectives such as “proficient” and
“knowledgeable”
• For the soft skills, it is recommended to have a relevant proof in the
form of a certification

Seminars and Trainings Attended
• Any physical or online seminars or trainings attended are indicated here
• The seminars / trainings must only be within the last five (5) years
• Arrange in reverse chronological order
• A certificate must have been given as proof of attendance
• Include ones that are relevant to your academic and professional
experience
• Per seminar or training, include the following:
• Title of seminar / training
• Inclusive date(s)
• Venue, if physical; delete this line if it is done online
• Organizing committee / company if online; delete this line if it is done physically
• Please delete the entire section (with the header) if it is not applicable to
you

Awards and Certificates
• Pertains to any ranked competitions
• A certificate must have been given as proof of wining or participation
• Include ones relevant to your academic and professional experience only
• Arrange the awards in reverse chronological order
• The award / certificate must only be within the last five (5) years
• Per award, include the following:
• Name of competition + ranking
• Inclusive date(s)
• Venue, if physical; delete this line if it is done online
• Organizing committee / company if online; delete this line if it is done physically
• Please delete the entire section (with the header) if it is not applicable to
you

Leadership and Membership
• Pertains to any leaderships or memberships inside or outside
school
• Arranged according to the beginning of the membership
• Per leadership / membership position, include the following:
• Position in the organization and name of organization
• Complete address of the main base of operations
• Inclusive date(s)
• Please delete the entire section (with the header) if it is not
applicable to you
Additional Tips - CV
• Add only information related to your profession
• Remove any placeholders
• Prevent including certain information
• Content must only be within 5 years
• Observe white space
• Be clear and concise
• Tell the truth
• Check formatting and proof read

Introduction to the Online Portfolio
• Website that collates all work that an individual has done
• Mostly looks into creative work and computer
applications, such as:
• Art
• Photographs and videos
• Music compositions
• Dance choreography
• Literature
• Mobile applications
• Web applications
• Offline systems
Introduction to the Online Portfolio
• Recommended for individuals who are in the:
• ICT field (software development, animation, graphic design)
• Creative field (fine arts, dance, music, graphic design,
videography)
• Freelancing industry (article writing, voice acting, commission-
based art)
• Importance:
• Establishes your brand and work on the web
• Allows employers the entire plethora of your work through one
single link
• Employers can find you instead of you finding them
• Helps you reach other like-minded people

• Landing page of the website that contains the least amount of
information (mostly on title and short description)

• Webpages that shows a series of works done with their titles and

contact information and social media, frequently asked
questions, and other interesting information
• Create a contact us section that immediately sends to email
Additional Tips – Online Portfolio
• Place the link into the CV
• Website design
• Remove unnecessary placeholders
