Boiler Pre Startup check List

PURPOSE:

The purpose of this procedure is Smooth startup the boiler.

PRE-REQUISITES:
1. Work permits on various boiler areas such as Furnace, APH, ID Fans, Drum and Dampers etc.,
canceled/returned and men, material removed from these areas.
2. All Safety Valves are free to Float.
3. Check the availability of electrical supply.
4. Check sufficient level of RAW water tanks (>80%).
5. Check sufficient level of Storage water tanks (>80%).
6. Check Chemistry of Storage, Deaerator and Steam Drum Water.
7. Check Chemistry of Bagasse.
8. Check availability of Water treatment plant.
9. Check availability of all Bagasse and Ash Carriers.
10. Check availability of instrument air.
11. Check Healthiness of all Control Valves and DOV and make sure their isolating valves are open.
12. Check all water wall drains, IBD and CBD valves are closed
13. Check and maintain deaerator level (60%) & boiler drum level (50%).
14. Check boiler man-hole covers are properly closed.
15. Check boiler drum vents & super heaters vents, and drains of MOV, NRV are open.
16. Check start-up vent, its isolating valve and steam line drain valve are open, also make sure
that steam traps are in line.
17. Check all the soot – blowers are in retracted condition.
18. Check Lineup of blowdown tank and flush tank.
19. Check all safety valves are in healthy condition.
20. Check dosing systems is available.
21. Check lineup of furnace oil system.
22. Check healthiness of boiler feed pumps, lift Pumps, condensate pumps and furnace oil pumps.
23. Check lineup of boiler feed water system.
24. Check lineup of Super heaters attemperator.
25. Check lineup of Sampling Station.
26. Check main steam stop valve and its bypass valve are close.
27. Check healthiness of all ID, FD, SA and Spreader fans and their dampers.
28. Check Healthiness of all Rotary Valves.
29. Check availability of Bull Dozer & tractors for bagasse feeding and Ash Dumping, also make
sure sufficient availability of diesel.
30. Check all instrument are in line and Level Transmitters are matched with Gauge Glasses.
31. Check all VFD are normal.
32. Check existing alarms and FORCE alarms.
