The completion of this form is a mandatory requirement of the EE. It must be submitted together with the completed
EE for assessment under Criterion E. As per the ‘Protocols for completing and submitting the Reflections on

the RPPF is blank or the comments are written in a language other than that of the accompanying essay.
Supervisor: You must have three reflection sessions with each candidate, one early on in the process, an interim meeting
and then the final viva voce. Other check-in sessions are permitted but do not need to be recorded on this sheet. After each
reflection session candidates must record their reflections and as the supervisor you must indicate the month that the
reflection session took place, the candidate’s year of DP study at that time and initial this form.
For a few months I had been thinking about a topic for the extended Essay, the only thing I knew was that I wanted
something related to Business Management, when the time passed, I started noticing that I really enjoyed topics related to
Marketing so I searched what aspect I could aboard. Finally, I realised that virtual advertising was a good theme, so in my
first meeting with my assessor, I told her about my interests and she recommend me looking for something which language I
could analyse and, in that way, have a successful experience. After that, I searched for some commercials and campaigns
that had an important impact and I found the “Dumb Ways to Die Campaign” and I thought it was very captivating so I
decided to use it for my question, also including the specific place and date I will analyse in the future.

Candidate comments:
Since the first interview for the EE I have a more clear view of what I need to look for in order to achieve the main objectives
of the extended essay. I was able to find a wide range of information that could be used: web pages, articles, videos,
interviews, and many others to explore before starting the first chapters. While I was making the index, I had to choose
different points of evaluation to the theme and something that helped me during that process was writing down on a separate
document, as many quotes as I found about the topic. Thanks to that, I had a way of supporting many of my ideas through
the essay. That would be something that I have achieved during this time, because before starting it was very difficult for me
to find quotes or to find relevant information to use, and I can say that now it's a lot more simple.
