Welcome to the “Webinar Indonesia-Africa Centre of Universitas Gadjah Mada” presented

by Agro Technology Innovation Centre Universitas Gadjah Mada. This year’s webinar theme
is “Good Seed Quality of High Yielding Varieties for Food Security”, which is held today on
October 7th, 2021.

This event is a form of collaboration between Universitas Gadjah Mada and University of
Namibia in order to promote the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
through education, research, and community development. Regarding to the theme of this
webinar, participants will be invited to discuss about:
● Emerging Opportunities in the Namibian Seed Sector: A Food Security Strategy
● Food Security in Namibia: Status of Crop Production, Challenges, and Initiatives
● The Impact of High Yielding Varieties for National Food Production
● The Role of Seed Industry on National Good Seed Availability

Now, we’re going to the plenary session of this webinar today. There are 4 speakers who
will deliver their topics. This session will be led by our moderator Dr. Panjisakti Basunanda,
S.P., M.P. from Faculty of Agriculture UGM

And here’s his profile:

Panjisakti completed his bachelor and Masters in Plant Breeding from UGM, then he
continued his doctoral degree at J(Y)ustus-Liebig Universitet Giessen, Germany. He has 12
experiences of rice research in the last 5 years.

Without further ado, Mr. Panjisakti, the stage is yours.

Ladies and gentlemen, to conclude the webinar, we would like to invite Prof. Dr. Frednard
Gideon from University of Namibia to formally give closing remarks.

As Prof. Frednard said, we do hope by joining this today’s webinar, we can enhance our
understanding about food security between countries, Indonesia and Namibia. In the future,
today's agenda can increase the chances of doing some research and collaboration.
