Welcome to the “21st Forum for Ethical Review Committees in Asia and the Western
Pacific (FERCAP) International Conference” in collaboration with Universitas Gadjah
Mada. This year’s webinar theme is “Ethical Lessons Learned during Epidemic
Outbreaks”, which is held today on December 9th-11th, 2021.

(Webinar introduction)
● The 2021 FERCAP International Conference seeks to foster competent, independent
domestic decision-making, to promote responsible human research through a network
of international forums, and to monitor the quality and effectiveness of ethical reviews
worldwide, with mutual respect for cultural, regional, and national differences.
● The conference speakers will share their perspectives and experiences with
collaborative initiatives between individuals, institutions, and organizations aimed at
establishing an integrated health research system founded on shared ethical values
especially during COVID-19 pandemic era.

Good morning, Ladies and Gentleman

Welcome back to the “21st Forum for Ethical Review Committees in Asia and the Western Pacific (FERCAP)
International Conference” hosted by Faculty of Medicine, Public health, and Nursing, Universitas Gadjah Mada.

Today is the second day of a conference session that will be divided into 3 main sessions, consisting of 2 parallel
sessions and 1 preliminary session.

Before we announce the topic, we would like to ask your permission to check your Zoom version to enhance the
quality when joining the parallel sessions.

Here’s the list of topics that can be chosen by participants and invited guests:
Session 3 that will be held on 08.30 - 10.30 a.m
A. 3A: Ethical Dilemmas in COVID Prevention and Treatment
B. 3B: Multi-Stakeholder Perspectives of Risk Management
C. 3C: Asian Multi-country Survey of REC Review of Covid Protocols

We welcome you back to the main room for this morning conference. For the next agenda, participants will join
Session 4 that is divided into 3 main breakout rooms.
Session 4 that will be held on 10.30 - 12.00 a.m
A. 4A: Addressing Informed Consent Concerns
B. 4B: Challenges to Ethics Review during a Pandemic
C. 4C: Ethics and Regulatory Perspectives

To all participants, you have just joined 2 parallel sessions. For the next 60 minutes, you may have a lunch break
session. The conference will begin at 1.00 p.m with the topic: Lessons Learned during a Pandemic and Beyond.

Indonesia with its diversity of tribes, races, religions and cultures is a strength for a nation
full of culture. This difference is not a separator, but complements each other to become a
strong nation because they complement each other. Mataya in Sanskrit is dancing. By
dancing we celebrate this diversity by dancing and loving Indonesian culture. Different still
one, love culture, love Indonesia.
