Detailed Lesson Plan Teaher: DIANA ROSE P. CANON Learning Area: Science
Teaching Dates& Time: May 23, 2022; 9:30 am Quarter: 4th

I. OBJECTIVES
a. Content Standards The learners demonstrate an understanding of uniformly accelerated motion, motion in two-dimensions using projectile
motion as example, impulse and momentum, and conservation of linear momentum.
b. Performance Standards The learners shall propose ways to enhance sports related to projectile motion.
c. Learning Competencies The learners should be able to:
• determine the acceleration of a rolling object by recording the time to travel different distances on an inclined
plane;
• graph the motion of the rolling object given a distance vs. time and distance vs time 2 table;
• describe the motion of the rolling object given a d-t graph or d-t2 graph.
II. CONTENT FORCES AND MOTION

IV. PROCEDURES
Teacher’s Activity Learner’s Activity
1. Elicit Good afternoon everyone! Good afternoon madam!

When you were in Grade 7 and 8, you have already

learned some concepts about motion.
Before we start with our next topic, answer the
following questions:
-What is speed? velocity?
-Speed refers to how fast or slow an object moves.
-What is the difference between speed and velocity? -Velocity is the speed and direction of an object.
-What is acceleration? -Speed has a magnitude only while velocity has magnitude and
direction.
-Acceleration is the change in velocity over a time interval.

2. Engage *motion of an airplane starting to takeoff video presentation

-How will you describe the speed of the plane from rest -airplane accelerates along the ground until sufficient lift is generated
until it takes off? for takeoff. At the end of the runway the plane has reached its takeoff
velocity.
-
3. Explore Activity 1: Roll, Roll, and Away!
4. Explain (Each group will present their output)
-How will you describe the graphs of: -The d vs. t graph is a curve line.
a. distance vs. time? -The d vs. t2 graph is a straight line inclined to the right.
b. distance vs. time2?
-What is the relationship between distance and time of -The relationship is quadratic
travel of the rolling can?
5. Elaborate -What quantity does the slope d-t2 graph represent? -The slope of d-t2 graph represents the acceleration.
(refer to the unit of the slope)

-What do the graphs of distance vs. time and distance -The d-t and d-t2 graphs tells that the tin can is accelerating uniformly.
vs. time2 suggest? It tells that velocity increases over time. It means that for a regular time
interval, distance is increasing quadratically.

In computing the slope, you divided distance by time

which is actually the speed of the can.
6. Evaluate Using the table below, compute for the slope of the d-t and d-t2 graph.
Distance(m) Time (s) Speed (d/t) Acceleration (d/t2)

2 0.5
4 1
6 1.5
8 2
10 2.5
7. Extend Study the basic equations (v, vave, a) used to derive the
formula in Uniformly Accelerated Motion (UAM).
