“Very good! Based on our activity, what is an (Two students will give their ideas
Analogy?” about Analogy.)
Example:
F. Application
I will divide the class into five groups (approx. 12 members per group). Each group will be
divided into two; six of them will play ‘Pass the message’, the other six members will do the
‘Scavenger Hunt’. Each group will be given sets of incomplete analogies and sets of words
posted on the board.
Mechanics:
1. Players of ‘Pass the message’ from each group will form a line.
2. The same analogy will be given to the first students from each group.
Ex. school bus : vehicle :: green : _______
3. After reading the analogy, the first student from each group needs to pass the
analogy to the second student and so on until the analogy reaches the sixth
student.
GROUP 1 GROUP 2 GROUP 3 GROUP 4 GROUP 5
4. The sixth student will relay or pass the message/analogy to his/her groupmates
who will do the ‘Scavenger Hunt’. The ‘Scavenger Hunt’ group will analyze the
message/analogy relayed to them and will decide what the correct answer is.
5. If the next set of six students from each group already has an answer, they will
now do the ‘Scavenger Hunt’. They need to find the correct answer from the set of
words posted on the board in front of them. If they already found the answer, they
have to shout ‘We got it!’
6. If one group already shouted ‘We got it!’, the remaining groups will stop.
Correct answer – the group will get the point and will proceed to the next
analogy.
Wrong answer – the remaining groups will continue and will have the
chance to get the point if answered correctly.
7. This process will continue until one group reaches three points. The first group to
get three points will be the winner of the game. The winning group will get 60
points. The remaining groups will get 20 points for every correct answer.
G. Generalization
IV. Evaluation
Directions: Supply the missing word by choosing from the choices given. Identify what analogy
relationship presented or used in each number.
V. Assignment
In a short bond paper, construct two examples for each analogy relationship by drawing
a picture instead of using words. Explain each example.
Example
Part to Whole
A leaf is part of a tree in the same way that a petal is part of a flower.
