Problem: DESIGN OF A PRE-SCHOOL BUILDING


AREA REQUIREMENTS:

▪ 3 classrooms (1 for Nursery, 1 for Kinder 1 and 1 for Kinder 2)


Maximum of 15 students per class
Provide a minimum of 1.50 sq.m. per student
Provide open shelves for books/activity materials
4 students per activity table

▪ Faculty Room for 6 Teachers with Lounge/Dining Area/Kitchenette


▪ Principal's Office
▪ Library/Play Area
▪ Clinic
▪ Comfort Rooms for Children and for Adults (Teachers, School Personnel and Visitors (Parents))
▪ Area for future expansion
▪ Janitor's Storage Room

Exterior:
▪ Open Stage for programs and Flag ceremony (indicate area for Flag pole)
▪ Playground
▪ Parent's Waiting Area with canteen
▪ Parking Area for Cars and motorcycles
4 car parking slots and 6 motorcycle slots for faculty
15 car parking slots and 25 motorcycle slots for parents/guardians

*Note: Parent’s waiting area with canteen and parking area should be outside the perimeter wall of the
preschool area.

DRAWING REQUIREMENTS:

▪ Concept Sheet 10%


▪ Site Development Plan (1:300 scale or biggest scale to fit paper) 20%
▪ Floor Plan (1:100 scale) 30%
▪ 4 Elevations (1:100) 15%
▪ 2 Section (1:100) 5%
▪ Exterior Perspective 10%
▪ Interior Perspective of 1 Classroom 10%

SITE:
*Assume there are no existing structures within the site.

Guidelines for the design of Pre-school as per DepEd Manual:
ASSIGNMENT:

Make a research about Pre-school planning and design. Include design criteria which are not mentioned in the
DEPEd manual discussed above. You may include case studies and pictures.
