SHORT DESCRIPTION
The external power supply unit UNS 0861a-P provides the voltage supply to the POW-1 module
integrated in the main unit. The device is responsible for adapting the battery voltages present on
the customer side to the DC input range of the POW-1 module.
The device is available in the following two variants:
- V1: for 24 ... 48VDC nominal input voltage
- V2: for 110 ... 250VDC nominal input voltage.
In order to achieve a redundant voltage supply, the 115V / 230VAC supply voltage is additionally
fed to the POW-1 module. The decoupling diodes belonging to the AC/DC redundant power supply
are located in the DC output 17-19. The AC and DC output voltages (11, 12 and 17 ... 20) are
monitored. If one of the two fails, the FAIL signal is generated at the outputs 14 and 15. The
presence of the AC and DC output voltages is indicated by means of the AC ON and DC ON
LEDs. The 220VDC output voltage is additionally fed to test terminals. With an external capacitor
on the outputs 18 and 20, the 220VDC output voltage can be supported in the event of brief
interruptions of the DC supply voltage. The fuse F1 in the DC input protects the device in the event
of internal defects.
In addition, the power supply unit UNS 0861 generates a galvanically isolated 24VDC contact
interrogation voltage. The parallel connection of this contact interrogation voltage with a second
UNS 0861a-P is allowed where 2-channel systems are used. A decoupling diode and the two
terminals 6,7 and 8,9 are provided for this purpose. The 24VDC output is short-circuit-proof.

2.2 Connections
2.5 mm2 spring-clamp terminals, type WAGO 231, are used for all connections.
Only one conductor (wire or strand) may be connected per terminal.
The connections are divided into 3 blocks:
Terminals 1,2,4,5 AC and DC supply voltage
Terminals 6,7,8,9,+24V contact interrogation voltage
Terminals 11....20Output voltages to POW-1 and UNS 1860

The 3 connection blocks can be pulled out.

3. CONFIGURATION
Two-wire twisted cables must be used for the following associated input/output signals:

14,15 Fail signal of the voltage monitoring

The EMC protection is provided by means of the fixing bolts, if the assembly board is a grounded
surface. An additional ground connection (1 ... 4 mm2) is provided for the protective ground.

4. COMMISSIONING AND FUNCTION CHECK

4.1 Variant Check
Check the use of the device variants:
V1: input voltage at connection 5(+), 4(-): 24...48 VDC
V2: input voltage at connection 5(+), 4(-): 110..250 VDC

4.2 Setting AC Voltage Range

AC supply voltage (output 1,2)
The nominal input voltage must be set using the slide switch SW1 on the POW-1
module.

4.3 Function Check

The 220VDC output voltage is to be checked between the test terminals +DCOUT and
-DCOUT.
If the device is functioning correctly, the LEDs AC ON and DC ON which are assigned to the output
voltages must be activated.
The voltage between connection 15 (+) and 14 (-) must be between 0.1 and 2V.

The following procedure is recommended in the event of a malfunction:

Check for correct connections
Check size and polarity of the input voltages
Check fuse F1 in the UNS 0861
Check fuse F1 in the POW-1 module
Check output voltages
