WEATHER

BY: Charisse Balagot

A lot of people may use the terms weather, climate, and meteorology somewhat
interchangeably, or maybe without knowing exactly what each term means. Seeing as
weather affects people every day, it is important to know what each term means and
how to be able to use those terms correctly. The term weather is defined as the state of
the atmosphere at a particular location at a particular time. For example, in Madison,
Wisconsin the weather may be 20 degrees Fahrenheit and sunny, while the weather in
Milwaukee, Wisconsin might be 25 degrees and snowing. These two cities aren’t very far
apart, but they could have different things going on in the atmosphere.

Weather is an ever changing phenomenon. It has various components such as

temperature, rainfall, cloud cover, humidity etc. Weather affects every sphere of human
life, whether it is business or Entertainment. Weather Forecasting is one of the most
technologically challenging tasks. Weather forecasting using Data mining is an innovative
way of predicting the weather with minimal cost and maximum accuracy.

Weather is always on the run and changing. Some factor includes heat, air pressure, wind
and moisture. Sometimes weather can change and that can change your days plans. If it's
hot, you might want to go swimming; but if it's raining you might want to stay inside.
Earth get a constant stream of energy and heat from the sun. Earth also gives out energy,
it's a process that also cools the planet down. The Earth is tilted, which means that the
sun creates differences in the global distribution, that's what makes seasons, summer,
fall, winter, spring. The atmosphere is made up of Nitrogen, Oxygen, and Argon. The
higher you go in the atmosphere the colder it gets. Water vapor in the air creates the
right conditions to sustain life and to make weather. There is five main layers in the
atmosphere, Troposphere, Stratosphere, Mesosphere, Thermosphere, and Exosphere.
Troposphere is where almost all weather happens, The stratosphere is where the ozone is
located, the ozone is what protects us from harmful rays of the sun. If it wasn't for the
ozone, we would be exposed to radiation and extreme heat.
