Flight Training Division
This edition is based on the AFM revision No.7, where the use of the electric fuel pump in
high altitude has been clarified.
Checklist für Diamond DA40-180 G1000 (Lycoming) In addition the maximum fuel unbalance values were added to the checklist.

Oil pressure near zero, vibration, loss of oil, smoke
Suspect mechanical failure in the engine
PITOT HEATING SYSTEM FAILED
PITOT FAIL Shut down engine immediately
Perform emergency landing
¾ check pitot heat ON
if in icing conditions
expect failure of the pitot-static-system Oil pressure high
alternate static valve: OPEN ¾ Check oil temperature
leave area with icing conditions If oil temperature normal:
suspect faulty oil pressure indication, continue flight
BUS VOLTAGE TOO LOW
LOW VOLTS
Oil temperature high
Remark: possible reasons are
¾ Check cylinder head temperature and EGT
- malfunction of electrical supply
- RPM too low If CHT and EGT normal:
Suspect faulty oil temperature indication, continue flight
On ground
Increase RPM to 1200 If CHT or EGT high:
Electrical equipment OFF Check oil pressure
Check Ammeter and voltmeter If oil pressure low:
If light still ON Continue with OIL pressure LOW checklist
Terminate flight preparation
In flight If oil pressure in green range:
Switch off unnecessary electrical equipment Check mixture setting, enrich if necessary
Check Ammeter and voltmeter Reduce power
If light still ON If no success:
Apply “ALTERNATOR FAIL”-emergency procedure Land ASAP
