Analysis

"With a resourcefulness mindset you are driven to find a way. An

attitude of resourcefulness inspires out of the box thinking...and the
ability to visualize all the possible ways to achieve what you desire.“
- Sherie Campbell
- This proverb is frequently used to inspire creativity. But what
exactly does it imply? It's more than just thinking while sitting on the
outside of a cardboard box. It's a challenge to think creatively when
you think outside the box because you're not using commonly
utilized ideas.

Abstraction
Resourcefulness
It is linked by research to abilities like sociability, resilience,
creativity, and self-awareness.

Ways to Foster Resourcefulness

• Teach resourcefulness

In the words of Tony Robbins, “Success is not about your resources.

It’s about how resourceful you are with what you have.” One of the
best ways for students to understand resourcefulness is through the
stories of resourceful people.

• Apply knowledge of problem solving to new situations

One of the most famous and simple approaches to teaching
problem solving was developed by mathematics educator George
Polya in 1945. He identified four principles that form the basis of all
problem solving:
1. Understand the problem.
2. Devise a plan.
3. Carry out the plan.
4. Look back.

• Encourage the use of technology

There is an abundance of technology to help an individual more

resourceful and productive. For example, mind mapping can help
better understand problems and devise plans by visualizing
connections, outlining different sides of issues, and determining next
steps. Electronic planners, note-taking programs, and timeline
software can help students carry their plans to completion.

• Promote independence and collaboration

While independence and collaboration may seem like

opposites, both are necessary to become resourceful.

• Develop the art of positive skepticism

Being resourceful means developing the ability to look at multiple
solutions to a single problem. It also requires a dose of skepticism

• Flip your classroom

One of the values of flipped classrooms is a teacher’s ability to

provide differentiated instruction and encourage students to work at
their own pace.

Application
Sharing of ideas/experiences/output.
How can we apply the principles of resourcefulness whilst we continue
to work during the Covid-19 Pandemic?
- During the global pandemic, students rapidly learn to apply
their information to attain their objectives. Knowledge can
become a source of irritation rather than fulfillment if it is not
processed, managed, and applied. As they build skills in
planning, organizing, decision-making, and problem-solving,
children learn to use and apply their information. These
abilities are the foundations of resourcefulness, or the capacity
to identify and use available resources to attain objectives.
Students build critical links between knowledge and goal
achievement when they anticipate multiple outcomes, set
objectives, experiment with novel techniques, and overcome
problems. They learn to be responsible creators of their own
destiny.
