Emphasizes the construction of knowledge.
They support the construction of learning
through social negotiation.

WHAT IS
CONSTRUCTIVISM?
Constructivism is an approach to learning that holds
that people actively construct or make their own
knowledge and that reality is determined by the
experiences of the learner’ (Elliott et al., 2000, p. 256).
Constructivism's central idea is that human learning is
constructed, that learners build new knowledge upon
the foundation of previous learning.

POSITIVE ASPECTS
It’s active.
It promotes student agency.
It develops advanced skills.
It encourages students to reflect, evaluate and
identify intermediary skills.
It reflects our modern world’s vast access to content.

NEGATIVE ASPECTS
It hinders the organization
Biological constructivism affects the sociocultural
factors
Minimizes the importance of the individual.
Negative aspect in student learning.

DESCRIPTION OF A
CONSTRUCTIVIST CLASS
The teaching method that raises the educational level of
students through various activities that promote their
learning.
The knowledge shared between teachers and
students.
Teachers are facilitators of learning.
Consist of small groups of students.
Focus on students' questions and interests
