SAMPLE PAPER TEST 07 FOR TERM-2 EXAM (2021-22)

(ANSWERS)
SUBJECT: MATHEMATICS (041) MAX. MARKS : 40
CLASS : XII DURATION: 2 HRS
General Instructions:
1. This question paper contains three sections - A, B and C. Each part is compulsory.
2. Section - A has 6 short answer type (SA1) questions of 2 marks each.
3. Section - B has 4 short answer type (SA2) questions of 3 marks each.
4. Section - C has 4 long answer type questions (LA) of 4 marks each.
5. There is an internal choice in some of the questions.
6. Q14 is a case-based problem having 2 sub parts of 2 marks each.

SECTION – A
Questions 1 to 6 carry 2 marks each.
 /4
dx
1. Evaluate: 
 / 4
1  cos 2 x
Ans:

OR
2
cos 2 x  2sin x
Evaluate:  dx
cos 2 x
Ans:

2. Find the order and degree (if defined) of the following differential equation:
2
d2y  dy  2  d2y 
 x  dx   2 x log  2
dx 2    dx 
Ans: Clearly, the differential equation is not expressible as polynomial in its derivatives. So, its
degree is not defined.
Hence, order = 2 and degree = not defined

3. Out of 8 outstanding students of a school, in which there are 3 boys and 5 girls, a team of 4
students is to be selected for a quiz competition. Find the probability that 2 boys and 2 girls are
selected.
Ans: Total number of students = 8
The number of ways to select 4 students out of 8 students  8C4  70

The number of ways to select 2 boys and 2 girls =  3C2  5C2  3  10  30
30 3
∴ Required probability = 
70 7

4. Write the value of λ so that the vectors a  2i   j  k and b  i  2 j  3k are perpendicular to
each other.
Ans:

5. Find the vector equation of a plane which is at a distance of 5 units from the origin and its
normal vector is 2i  3 j  6k .
Ans:

6. Often it is taken that a truthful person commands, more respect in the society. A man is known to
speak the truth 4 out of 5 times. He throws a die and reports that it is a six. Find the probability
that it is actually a six.
Ans: Let H1 be the event that 6 appears on throwing a die, H2 be the event that 6 does not appear
on throwing a die.
E be the event that he reports it is six.

SECTION – B
Questions 7 to 10 carry 3 marks each.

Find the particular solution of the differential equation: xe y / x  y sin    x sin    0 for x
x dx x
= 1, y = 0.
Ans:

8. If θ is the angle between two vectors i  2 j  3k and 3i  2 j  k , then find sin θ.
