How to be a Responsible

Gonzalo: Good morning, teacher and colleagues, today my group and I are
going to show you how to be a responsible tourist when visiting the city of
Machu Picchu.
Machu Picchu is an Inca citadel located in the heights of the Andes
Mountains in Peru, in the valley of the Urubamba River. It was chosen as
one of the 7 wonders for the grandeur and beauty of the entire
archaeological site.
Nicolas: Transport - The fastest way to get to Machu Picchu is by train, for
this you must buy your tickets in advance, do not forget to bring your
identity documents, you must arrive at the station 30 minutes before
departure time and present your identification.
Grecia: Accommodation - In Cusco, Aguas Calientes and Urubamba there
are hotels from 1 to 5 stars. There are camping sites in the town of Aguas
Calientes. There is also a luxury hotel located next to the Historic
Sanctuary of Machu Picchu. If you decide to visit the place when there is a
lot of tourism, it is recommended to book your accommodation in advance
at the hotel of your choice.
Valentina: Energy and Water - If water and energy efficient are available
at this site. You can find the staircase of the fountains, it is an amazing
construction formed by liturgical fountains, but it is not the only hydraulic
construction more than half of the city can not be seen because it is built
under the mountain floor. Machu Picchu was a place of water worship and
belongs to the Andes mountain range.

Gonzalo: Souvenirs

Friendship bracelets: They are the perfect gift for friends and family.

Ponchos and alpaca clothing: Traditional ponchos from the Andean

clothing line are fun items to take home.

Alpaca dolls: Best thing to do: Buy an alpaca doll made from real alpaca
fur to remind you of furry creatures.

Scarves: Complete your Andean wardrobe with a scarf made from

authentic alpaca fibers
Grecia: People and social interaction - When tourists visit the city it is
easy to interact with the people because they are very friendly, for tourists
who speak other languages there are also translators who can help them
in their stay in the city, try to preserve the city and not do any kind of
damage so that new tourists or those who want to visit again can do so.

Felix: Plants and wildlife - The wonderful landscape is home to numerous

species of flora and fauna, such as: Orchids, the Puya Raimondi that
reaches 3 meters high. It is also home to many species of butterflies,
llamas can live comfortably in places of high altitude. The spectacled bear
is native to the Andes and is in endangered of extinction. The puma was a
very important animal for the Andean religion, for the Incas it was a divine
animal that represented the power of the world.
Nicolas: Food - Cusco's gastronomy stands out for the use of different
foods in their meals such as potatoes and different types of meat such as
guinea pig and alpaca. One of the most representative dishes is the Chiri
uchu that is served in the celebration of Corpus Christi. If you decide to
bring your own food, try not to litter and discard your waste to avoid
polluting the city.
Felix: Recycling - Machu Picchu has found in recycling, sustainability for its
salvation from tourist exploitation and the waste generated by them. It
would be the first community to recycle 100% of its solid waste, thus being
a resource and not a problem, becoming a model of a sustainable city.
Also try to use environmentally friendly products.
Valentina: Machu Picchu is a beautiful and majestic place! If you go there
on vacation, make sure it stays beautiful and don't do anything to damage
the magnificent citadel!
Thank you all for your attention and I hope that you will be responsible
tourists when traveling to other countries.
