    Quidditch is a full-contact sport inspired by the game in the Harry Potter novels. It was founded in 2005 and has since grown internationally with over 500 teams worldwide. The basic rules are that teams score points by throwing a volleyball ("quaffle") through hoops, while dodging balls ("bludgers") thrown by the other team. The game ends when one player ("seeker") catches a tennis ball in a sock ("snitch") hidden on the field. Teams consist of 3 chasers, 2 beaters, 1 keeper, and 1 seeker per side. The United States Quidditch organization governs the sport and hosts regional and national championships.
