On rare occassions, EAI’s Advanced Product Support team may request a technician to obtain EEPROM data.

Before you can do this, you will first need an account created to access Epson’s Adjustment Portal Program and you will need Epson’s
asi_make.exe utility.

Be sure to request these if you do not have them already.

Once your account has been created, please follow these steps:

1. Run the asi_make.exe

2. Click Execute

3. You will be prompted to give the file a name and choose a location to
save the file to. Do not change the .asi extension.

4. Go to https://adj.ebz.epson.net/adjportal/

5. Enter your User ID and Password and click Login

Page 4

7. Click upload.

8. You will receive an e-mail from:

AdjPrg.Support@exc.epson.co.jp

9. Click on the link from the e-mail to download the

Adjustment Portal Program.

This program will ONLY operate from the same

computer that the *.ASI file was created from.

Any significant changes to the computer (such

as major WIndows OS updates) will invalidate
the program. No error messages will occur.
Instead it will simply not proceed beyond the
Login Screen.

To fix, you will need to create and submit a new *.asi file

10. Unzip the downloaded the file and run the

AdjPortalStarter.exe

11. Enter your User ID and Password and click

Login. The next screen will appear after about 20-30
seconds.

(Error Code: 000501) CAP PID excess load error

Make sure there is no interference with the Cap Motion Unit’s up/down path. This may be caused by incorrect assembly, debris and/or
mechanical deformation/failure.

Open the L (Front) Door.

Pull open the EJ Unit and remove from the printer. (See Service Manual)

Check the following:

Incorrect Assembly = Make sure Cap Motion Cover is installed correctly.

Reinstall Cap Motion Unit correctly

Debris = Check for any debris that may interfere with the Cap Motion Unit’s movement*.

Mechanical Deformation/Failure = Replace Cap Motion Unit

*if printer was recently moved or had a significant paper jam, then the Guide Parts from the Print Head may have come off. Inspect
printer thoroughly to locate all parts and reassemble them to the print head.

While performing a head exchange, if maintenance box becomes full or ink cartridge runs empty, it may be possible that the cap will
become stuck to print head surface due to high suction. Try to find a safe way to break this seal without damaging print head surface.
If pulling on the maint. motion unit, take care to not break the arms that raise the cap. Suction may be very strong.

(Error Code: 031008) VBS over-voltage error

This error may occur if the printer detects too much dew condensation. This should be very rare and only caused due to quick changes
in temperature and humidity. i.e. moving the printer into a considerably different environment. Please turn off the printer and wait 30
minutes before turning the printer back on to give it time to acclimate to the environment. If the error continues to happen, please con-
tact Epson support.

If this occurs, please try the following:
1 Start printer in Service Support Mode
2 4. Adjustment - Main/Option Unit
3 46 Individual Adjustment
4 4603 Head Data Transfer
5 46031 Head Data Transfer Before Replacing Head or...
6 46032 Head Data Transfer After Replacing Head
If both steps 5 and 6 fail, consider replacing the 5 FFC cables that connect to the print head
If 5 or 6 does work, then you probably have a bad print head.

(Error Code: 032509) Main-D Mismatch Error

Printer’s firmware needs to be updated WHILE any optional components are connected at the same time.

(Error Code: 034209) High Voltage Power Supply Failure

Check cable connections to the High Voltage board. May also cause 206601. Error likely will only occur when trying to print.
Error may also be caused by ink on the Belt Drawer unit. Please update firmware to GA12H7 or later and follow Service Manual
instructions on cleaning: 8.1.2.2 How to Clean the Belt Drawer Unit

(Error Code: 034211) Paper width detect failure

This error may occur if the J door is not closed securely or is damaged.

(Error Code: 034828) Negative pressure charge error 0
If this occurs after replacing parts, please check all the components of those parts to make sure all the tubes are connected properly
and it is seated in the printer properly. e.g. Wiper Valve Assy can easily be installed incorrectly which will cause either of these errors.

(Error Code: 035051) Finisher Communication error

Most likely cause is due to connecting/disconnecting the Finisher to the Bridge while power is on. This action damages the Finisher Main
Board. Please make sure main unit is turned off when connecting/disconnecting the Finisher.

(Error Code: 060007 Bridge Unit Power Supply over-voltage error

The ground plate in the EJ unit (not in Bridge unit) does not perfectly touch the metal parts of the D3 unit because there are some backlash for
attaching the ground plate to the EJ unit. As a result, stored electricity is discharged randomly and printer detects this noise as error 060007.

If you encounter this issue, please reattach the ground plate.

3) Please re-attach the earth plate so

that it touches the metal part of the D3
Unit..
Loosen the ground plate screw and
push the plate toward the frame side
(like arrow direction) and fix the
screw.

(Error Code: 100014) LIFT Timeout Error (if using FW older than GA25H8)
(Error Code: 100015) LIFT Sensor Error (if using FW GA25H8 or newer)
ADF paper tray lifts when it detects paper placed on the ADF. When scanning
is completed, it moves down to its home position. It is possible that while tray
is moving down, user may be removing paper beneath the tray and cause it to
become “out of position”.

Please try the following:

1) Lift the ADF tray approximately half way.

2) Push the ADF coverside into the bottom (see photo to right).

If issue occurs too frequently, ADF may need replacement. If printer’s serial
number is X3FV0000271 or lower (C20590 only) replace the ADF with p/n
1741819 or higher which has been modified to prevent this issue.

(Error Code: 100016) Scanner Home Position Detection

Failure
In addition to service manual troubleshooting, there may be an issue with the scanner’s FFC. If printer’s serial number is X3FV000804
or lower(C201590) or X59F000104 or lower(C17590), you may need to exchange the scanner with p/n 1749512 or higher. If serial
number is X3FV0000271 or lower (C20590 only) then also replace the ADF with p/n 1740177 or higher.

Paper Guide Parts

Paper Guide Parts Page 17

EPSON WorkForce Enterprise WF-C20590 7/9/19

Additional reference photos follows this page

There are 2 Front Head Paper Guide assemblies that have 2 Guide Parts and 2 Compression Springs attached to a base.

Each base Guide Assembly is secured to the Print Head by 2 screws and share 1 screw. The Guide Parts are only secured by
their plastic hooks with the compression springs.

In the Service Manual, go to Repair Work Details (Main Unit) > Head. Follow instructions starting with Guide Letter A1 and con-
tinue through A10.

It is NOT necessary to perform the normally required Before Repair Operation [31 Head] or completing Supplemental Work (1).

You will probably not have a Head Joint Cap as shown in step A10. If you find it necessary, you may wrap the Head Ink Joint in
a towel. Then find a way to secure the tubes away from the Print Head. Be sure to NOT LOOSEN or remove the Tube Clips or
ink WILL spill quickly; risking serious damage to the print head and FFC connections.

Before you remove the head in A15 Step 3, you will need to “unlock” the Print Head. You will need to perform the following:

1. Remove Housing Rear, Right

2. Open the Board Box
3. Locate and rotate the brass PG Motor Worm Gear several times until the Print Head becomes
unlocked by the Head Mount Unit Cams.
4. If you rotate this gear too far, you will be unable to remove the print head completely. Only
rotate enough to clear the Head Mount Unit Cams.

Follow the Reassembly instructions found in A16 to restore the Front Head Paper Guides to the Print head. The hooks can be
fragile so be careful.

After the all the Front Head Paper Guide assemblies have been reinstalled on the print head, reassemble the printer following
the service manual instructions in reverse order.

Perform the following adjustments after reassembly:

1. 4602 PG ADJUSTMENT: MENU > 46021 Head

2. 4608 HEAD ANGULAR ADJUSTMENT (use EPSON Photo quality ink jet paper S041062)
3. Print Nozzle checks and perform cleanings as needed.

Ink Smear/Stains on prints

Some media types, especially thin ones, are more susceptible to temperature, humidity, and ink saturation/density (during duplex print-
ing) which cause them to cockle. This may cause them to rub the print head surface. Please consider the following:

1. Storing media out of strong direct light sources (such as sunlight) and areas of high humidity. For media loaded in the
paper trays, you may wish to consider adding XXXX to the paper trays to absorb moisture.

2. Change the Envelope/Thick Paper setting in the driver to Mode 1 or Mode 2 (higher quality print, but slower print speed
to allow ink more dry time).

Prints are not Centered

Check to make sure paper is loaded in the center of the tray of the guides are snug to the edges. If there is a gap between guides and
paper, then paper is likely to not be centered and prints will be offset.

Printer Functions/Buttons are missing

If the Fax Data Information, Job/Status, Job Interruption, or Paper Setting icons are missing, you will need to perform a full reset to
recover them. Settings > General Settings > System Administration > Restore Default Settings > Clear Data and Settings.

Printer does not print when Finisher is selected

Restart the printer. If this does not work, please reinstall/update firmware.

Paper is excessively curled

Paper curl happens naturally when paper (especially thin uncoated plain paper) absorbs large amounts of ink. Usually it will flatten itself
out in a short period of time. However, low humidity will exacerbate this issue when printing pages with high duty print (such as photos,
flyers, or Power Point Presentation). Recommend trying to maintain a humidity level around 50%.

Also paper feeding SEF will curl more than LEF.

Paper Jam, Skew, and/or Dog Eared

Most paper jams, paper skewing, and dog-eared

pages will be caused on the right-hand side of the
printer behind the J and E doors.

When there is a paper jam, skewing issue, or dog

eared paper, thoroughly inspect the entire paper path
to help determine where and what is causing the
issue.

This section is to describe specific points of interest

for those times where it is difficult to determine the
cause.

1. Paper Assist Assy

Check for proper installation of part and any
missing components (there are 4 plastic rollers)

2. Paper Feed Unit

Check for proper installation

3. Paper Pick Up Units C1-C4

Check for proper installation

Page 29

4. High Capacity Paper Drawer Interface on E-Door

Only remove the #2 cover as described on pg 53 of the instal-
lation guide by disengaging the 3 tabs.

Removal of the guide (secured by 2 screws) is a known

cause for all 3 scenarios: Paper Jam, Paper Skew, and
Dog Eared pages.

Paper Jam, Open J Door and Remove Paper

If you do not find any paper after opening the J door, please open the Front Door (L)
and open the Duplexer (D1).

If you see paper, remove it carefully as it may tear if caught on anything.

If it is trapped between the Print Head and the Cap, please manually lower the Cap
manually so that the paper may be removed.

Before trying to print, clean the Pre-Register Paper Detector and the Pre-Printing
Sensor located on the Register Unit.

See the Service Manual section 8.3.2.2 Check 2 for instructions.
