Read this manual before using the product in order to achieve
maximum performance.
Keep this manual in a safe place after reading it so that it can
be used at any time.
Introduction
This illumination unit is dedicated for use with KEYENCE
illumination expansion units. In order to use this product safely,
be sure to first read this manual and the instruction manual of
the illumination expansion unit.
Symbols
The following warning symbols are used to ensure safety and to
prevent human injury and/or damage to property when using
the system.
It indicates a hazardous situation which, if not
DANGER avoided, will result in death or serious injury.
It indicates a hazardous situation which, if not
WARNING avoided, could result in death or serious injury.
It indicates a hazardous situation which, if not
CAUTION avoided, could result in minor or moderate injury.
It indicates a situation which, if not avoided, could
NOTICE result in product damage as well as property damage.
Point It indicates additional information on proper operation.

Safety Precautions
General Precautions
• Do not use this product for the purpose to protect a
human body or a part of human body.
• This product is not intended for use as explosion-
proof product. Do not use this product in a
hazardous location and/or potentially explosive
atmosphere.
DANGER • Do not use this product in an application which
requires functional safety. It should not be used in
situations where death or serious property damage
is possible, such as nuclear power plants, on
aircraft, trains, ships, or vehicles, used within
medical equipment, playground equipment, roller
coasters and other rides, etc.
You must perform a sufficient risk assessment for the
machine where this product is to be installed prior to
installing this product. Provide appropriate protective
WARNING fail-safe measures on the machine independent from
this product in case a failure with this product should
occur.
You must verify that this product is operating correctly
CAUTION in terms of functionality and performance before the
start and the operation of this product.
• When this product is used in combination with
other instruments, functions and performance may
NOTICE be degraded, depending on the operating
conditions and surrounding environment.
• Do not subject the controller or connected devices
to a sudden change in temperature.
There is the risk of condensation occurring.
General cautions
Do not disassemble or modify the unit. Doing so may
WARNING cause fire or electric shock.
Operating environment and conditions
To use the system properly and safely, avoid installing
this product in the following locations. Failing to do so
may cause fire, electric shock, or product
malfunction.
• Locations that contain moisture or dust in excess
of the enclosure rating or that are poorly ventilated.
• Locations where the system is exposed to direct
sunlight or temperature increases.
CAUTION • Locations where there are flammable or corrosive
gases.
• Locations where the unit may be directly subjected
to vibration or impact.
• Locations where oil or chemicals may splash onto
the unit.
• Locations where static electricity is present or
electric discharge may occur.
Measures to be taken when an abnormality occurs
In the following cases, turn OFF the connected
device. Using the unit in an abnormal condition may
cause fire, electric shock, or product malfunction.
Contact your local KEYENCE office for repair.
CAUTION • If water or debris enters the system
• If the system is dropped or the case is damaged
• If smoke or a burning smell is emitted from the
main unit or from a connected device
Handling
Avoid touching the unit directly with your hands
during or immediately after use, since it may become
CAUTION hot at these times. Doing so may result in burn
injuries.
• Do not clean the unit with benzene, thinner, or
alcohol.
• If the unit has any dirt on it, wipe it off with a cloth
moistened with a mild detergent, and then wipe
the unit with a dry cloth.
• Do not connect this product to any devices other
than the supported illumination expansion units.
Doing so may lead to malfunctions of this product
and the device to which it is connected.
• When connecting and disconnecting this unit,
always switch off the supply of power to this unit
and any other devices connected to it. Failure to

connected hardware.
• LED elements are subject to a limited service
lifetime. Because high temperatures lead to
degraded performance or damage, always use a
setting that generates the least amount compatible
with application requirements.
Also, to prevent the unit from overheating, take
precautions such as using a cooling fan, installing
the unit with metal brackets that radiate heat easily,
using external control input to activate the light
intermittently, and using the volume control of an
illumination expansion unit.

Connecting the Power Cable with Connector to a
24 VDC Power Supply (CA-DQP25X Only*)
Connect the power cable with connector (not supplied) to a 24
VDC power supply.
* For the CA-DQP12X, connecting to a 24 VDC power supply is not needed
because power is supplied to it through the LED illumination cable.
You can also perform installation using the four through holes
(4×Ø9) provided in the four corners of the unit.
In this case, use metal fittings of such shape that they do not
interfere with lighting elements while they support this unit by all
the attachment areas around the through-holes indicated
below.
