TEMPORARY BOLLARDS ARE GENERALLY SPACED AS FOLLOWS:


- THE TRAFFIC CONTROLLERS EACH SIDE OF THE WORKSITE SHOULD BE AT LEAST 30 METERS FROM THE START
OF THE WORKSITE APPROACH CLEARANCE AREA - GENERALLY AT THE START OF THE TAPER.
AHEAD ROADWORK
- 5 TO 10 METERS APART ON TAPERS.
- THE TRAFFIC CONTROLLER SHOULD STAND WHERE THEY CAN SEE THE APPROACHING TRAFFIC FOR AT LEAST
1.5D METERS. THE TRAFFIC CONTROLLER SHOULD STAND FACING THE TRAFFIC BUT OUTSIDE THE TRAVELED
- 10 TO 20 METERS APART TO PROVIDE LONGITUDINAL. PATH SO THAT APPROACHING TRAFFIC CAN SEE THE CONTROLLER. IF THE SIGHT DISTANCE TO THE TRAFFIC
SEPARATION BETWEEN OPPOSING TRAFFIC FLOWS.
CONTROLLER IS LIMITED IT MAY BE NECESSARY TO USE AN EXTRA CONTROLLER IN ADVANCE OF THE TRAFFIC
CONTROL POSITION TO SLOW TRAFFIC APRROACHING THE END OF THE QUEUE. 60 END
- 10 TO 20 METERS APART TO PROVIDE LONGITUDINAL
SEPARTION OF TRAFFIC FROM THE WORKSITE OR A CLOSED LANE. THIS SPACING MAY BE INCREASED TO 50
METERS WHERE THE LENGTH OF BOLLARDS EXCEED 1 km.
- THE TRAFFIC CONTROLLERS SHOULD STAND IN A POSITION SO THAT A CLEAR ESCAPE PATH IS AVAILABLE IN
CASE HE NEEDS TO AVOID A VEHICLE THAT MAY NOT STOP 60 SIGN NO.
