The otoscope

The otoscope is an instrument with a beam of light that helps


to visualize and examine the condition of the ear canal and
eardrum. The ear exam may reveal the cause of some
symptoms such as pain or a feeling of fullness in the ear or
hearing loss.

Characteristics
The head emits a light source, and has a simple, low-power
magnifying glass, usually around 8 diopters, which is used to
magnify images. In the front part of the head it has a funnel-
shaped structure where a disposable plastic cone is inserted.
The handle is used to hold the appliance with one hand.
There are otoscopes that are wall mounted, while others are
portable. Those installed on the wall are connected by a
flexible power cord to a socket. The laptop models contain in
the handle the batteries that power the lighting system
