• To identify the number by applying


the Divisibility rule and finding the
remainder of the division by using
the proven technique
➢REAL NUMBERS (R) e.g., 0.5, 2, -0.073, 2.142857, 1.3̅.
They also include all irrational numbers such as π, e, 2, etc.
Every real number corresponds to a point on the number line
➢NATURAL NUMBERS (N) {1,2,3,4,5,………}

➢WHOLE NUMBERS (W) {0,1,2,3,4,5,.…….}

➢INTEGERS (Z) {………,-2,-1,0,1,2,.……….}

➢RATIONAL NUMBERS (Q) e.g., 1/2, 7/2, -4/3, 4/11, 22Τ7, 1.3, 2.64, 1.3̅
[Note: Denominator cannot be 0]
Prime Number: A number which has exactly two
factors is known as a prime number.

➢ 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19, 23, 29, 31, 37, 41, 43, 47, 53, 59,
61, 67, 71, 73, 79, 83, 89, 97 and so on.

➢ Co-primes: Two numbers which have the highest common


factor as 1.

➢ Twin primes: Two prime numbers with a difference 2.


Divisibility Rules

2 – A number is divisible by 2 if the number formed by it


last digit is divisible by 2.
4 – A number is divisible by 4 if the number formed by its
last two digits is divisible by 4.
8 – A number is divisible by 8 if the number formed by its
last three digits is divisible by 8.
16 – A number is divisible by 16 if the number formed by its
last four digits is divisible by 16.
𝟐𝒏 - A number is divisible by 2𝑛 if the number formed by its
last n digits is divisible by 2𝑛 .
Divisibility Rules

3 – A number is divisible by 3 only when the sum of its


digits is divisible by 3.

9 – A number is divisible by 9 only when the sum of its


digits is divisible by 9.
Divisibility Rules

5 – When its units digit is 0 or 5.

10 – When its units digit is 0.

25 – When divisible by 25
Divisibility Rules

6 – A number is divisible by 6, if it is divisible by both 2 and 3.

12 – A number is divisible by 12, if it is divisible by both 4 and 3.

15 – A number is divisible by 15, if it is divisible by both 3 and 5.

18 – A number is divisible by 18, if it is divisible by both 2 and 9.
